Dear Friends-I look forward to Twilight and lullabies EVERY TIME it's on the horizon. It seems that each week brings yet another outrage or sorrow or devastating event- whether it is weather, politics, pandemic, or whatever personal challenges are coming your way.

So any opportunity I can find, and can offer, that brings healing balm, spiritual perspective, renewed activist energy, or just some joy in the midst of it all- I say TAKE IT!!

This fall season is a favorite of mine; I feel so at home with nature's gentle cycle toward death, letting go, darkness, and transformation. It stirs my soul. It seems to help me be at peace with the losses, the darkness, the change I may not be welcoming right now in my life.

So that 's what we'll sing about this week.

One of your requests reminded me of a perfect song for this evening: Fall Down As The Rain (by Joe Crookston).

When my life is over and I have gone away
I'm gonna leave this big ole' world and the trouble and the pain
If I get to heaven, I will not stay
Turn my self around again -- fall down as the rain.

I'll also share some of my songs from my CD Long For This World, a collection of songs about impermanence, loss, and simple love .

AND I have some wonderful poems for you that have crossed my path while on retreat this week.

I spent last week on a silent retreat, online, with wonderful Buddhist teachers and a group of dedicated and open-hearted kinfolk.  I highly recommend doing this! Spirit Rock Meditation Center, or Insight Meditation Center have a number of online retreats this fall- take a look!

In lieu of live presence, I created another prerecorded "archive" video-- especially designed for this very moment in history. The nomination of a right wing, extremely "religious", anti-abortion nominee for SCOTUS inspired me to re-publish a short documentary of an AWESOME event I produced after the Kavanaugh hearings and in honor of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. You won't want to miss this one.
It is paired with a lovely short collage video of a Spirit Rock Family Retreat, as I sing with families a song of love and inclusion. Hope you'll share it with others, "like" it on YouTube, and comment if you are so moved.

DONATIONS: THE SPIRIT OF DANA
"Dana" means "generosity" in Pali, the ancient language from the time of the Buddha.

You are invited to contribute to this event, in the spirit of Dana, knowing that for so many of us, these evenings are a precious time of respite and recharge. We are in a circle of giving together--I offer you these evenings from my heart, freely. The energy you bring is your gift to us all, and if a financial offering is possible, it is greatly appreciated.

Besides helping with the costs of this series, your recent donations have allowed me to:
• Send funds for basic food and transportation to Esther Konkara, the young mom and country singer in Nairobi, Kenya, who JUST gave birth to her second child a few days ago! Mom and baby are doing great- and I sent funds for her transportation home from the hospital and for a good supply of food in the house. Your donations made this possible-THANK YOU.

Give as you can--your presence in the circle is your greatest gift!
