This month, we celebrate the release of Breaking Bonds, the second book in our Walker Boys series! The series as a whole features men from the Walker family of Buffalo Lick, Texas, who share a passion for the culinary arts. In the first book, Striking Sparks, Beau Walker competed on a reality show to determine who makes the best BBQ in Buffalo Lick. In Breaking Bonds, Liam Walker is an executive chef at one of the hottest restaurants in NYC.
From the frying pan into the fire.
After a critic’s review attacks both Chef Liam Walker’s culinary skills and his personal life, Liam can no longer take the heat of the cutthroat New York City restaurant scene. He needs to get out of the kitchen—at least long enough to cool down and regroup.
At the Overlook Resort in North Carolina, Liam meets owner Carter Galloway. Carter has a passion for the hospitality business to rival Liam’s own, and it’s not hard to see where their shared interests—and attraction—could lead. But Carter has no interest in a fling, and Liam has no intention of walking away from the career he fought so hard for. If they want a taste of happiness together, they’ll have to find the courage to break the bonds threatening to pull them apart.
Breaking Bonds is available from Dreamspinner Press!
If you missed Striking Sparks, it's available too!
Each book in the Walker Boys series is a stand-alone romance featuring a different couple. Although there are references to characters from previous books, you don't need to read them in order.

That's Carter on the cover, and he's standing in front of a place that's mentioned in the book — and that exists in real life!
Carter takes Liam to Clingmans Dome, not only to show him the spectacular view, but also help him clear his head and gain some perspective. Our amazing cover artist, Bree Archer, used photos of the view from Cliingmans Dome as the backdrop for the cover, and we love having a cover that depicts an actual scene from the book.
If you ever visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it's worth stopping at Clingmans Dome for the view. You can only drive so far up the mountain before you have to park and walk the rest of the way, so there's some uphill walking involved to get there, but the view is worth it — as long as it's a clear day! If you visit when there's fog on the mountain like I did, your pictures will look like this:

My advice is to go when the weather is as clear and sunny as possible, but take a light jacket just in case, even if it's summer. The higher up the mountain you go, the cooler it will get. Depending on how cold-natured you are, you might need more than a t-shirt and shorts by the time you get to the Dome.
The Dome itself looks like this:

Like something out of a horror movie, right? Always go on a clear day if possible!
Western NC has a lot to offer — hiking, camping, fishing, challenging motorcycle trails, amazing food, and music. Asheville in particular is a must-visit city if you love art, history, and trying new and different cuisine. Western NC is also the home of Folkmoot USA, an international music and dance festival that hosts performers from all over the world.
I love western NC, and I hope our readers can see that love throughout Breaking Bonds.

July 5 — The 2nd edition of Santa's Naughty Helper will be released by Dreamspinner Press. Get in the holiday spirit a few months early with this light romantic comedy!
August 1 — Out of the Ashes will be released by Dreamspinner Press. This is book one of our new Asheville Arcana series that will be published as part Dreamspinner's Dreamspun Beyond line. We have two more books planned for the series.
Our full upcoming release schedule can be found on the sidebar of our website.
What else are we working on? Well, we recently submitted three sample chapters of the third book in the Walker Boys series, which is set on a cruise ship. The Walker boy in this book — Seeking Solace — works as a bartender on the ship. We'll be finishing the full manuscript and submitting it for possible publication by late summer/early fall.
We also submitted three sample chapters of a book for Dreamspinner's Dreamspun Undercover line. We can't say too much about this one yet, but as a teaser, we'll say that the two leading men of this book are both older men.
Also in our writing queue is the first book in a new series that we plan to self-publish, and we're working on a short story for Dreamspinner's 2017 holiday advent daily dose. As usual, we have too many plot bunnies and too little time!

If you like Santa's Naughty Helper, you might also like Krampus Hates Christmas or A Swift Herd for Solstice, by Andi Van. We both read Krampus Hates Christmas and loved it, and Ari really enjoyed A Swift Herd for Solstice as well (McKay has not yet read it but is sure she will like it because she likes Andi's style).
