The Legal Team at NALC have again been busy keeping up-to-date with current legislation and working on topics to clarify existing laws.  Two topics looked at again recently included the use of SECRET BALLOTS and also NAMING INDIVIDUAL'S TAKING PART DURING PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE MINUTES.  Click here for details.

NHS Dorset CCG want to know if you think the proposed option, which can be viewed here, would deliver higher quality dementia care and support to Dorset residents. Up and Coming Conferences and Seminars

Shaftesbury Town Council have become one of only 43 councils nationwide to be recognised with this prestigious award as part of the Local Council Award Scheme.  Read more about their success here.

THE PLUNKETT FOUNDATION HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THEIR ‘MORE THAN A PUB’ CAMPAIGN IS BACK! The Plunkett Foundation will be offering support to rural and urban communities across England to help save their local pub through community ownership.  Use this link here to find out more.

There will be celebrations for peace taking place next May to mark the 75th Anniversary of VE DAY.  Please find details attached here of what you and your parishes can get involved with.

From 1 July 2019, booking for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) in Dorset will be handled by the NHS Patient Transport Advice Centre (PTAC).
This means that from this date people requesting transport will need to call a new number 01278 727457.

Since 1st April 2019 all local councillors have been exempt from paying data protection registration fees.  The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has  issued a new Fact Sheet explaining the changes but confirming that local councils still need to pay the fee. The Fact Sheet can be viewed here.

In the event of the death of a Senior Member of the Royal family, we have three documents that you should be familiar with.  The first has been provided from the National Association of Civic Officers, the second has been provided by Dorset Council for town and parish councils and the last document gives you a short list of equipment that you may wish to collect.  We hope you find them useful.
