Here’s what’s happening in Austin.

Welcome to June in Austin, when the humidity and heat start to peak and that Barton Springs Pool water hits just a little different. Luckily, we’re here to help you stay cool and up to date with the latest news in the ATX health and fitness scene.

🍍 Spreading The Health

We hope you’re ready, juice fans — one of Austin’s favorite healthy hot spots, JuiceLand, is opening its 31st location this Friday in the Mueller Market District. To celebrate, they’re hosting a full day of fun and exciting festivities, which include half-priced drinks for each customer and a JuiceLand-themed prize wheel featuring coupons, merch, and more. Stop by the new digs at 1801 E 51st Street to spin the wheel and check out the space.

⛰ More Space to Crux It

Crux Climbing Center is opening a second location in the Highland neighborhood of Austin. The new, 21,000-square-foot, bouldering-only gym will include a yoga studio, a coffee shop, and a fitness area, and word is they may also be adding saunas! The Central Austin spot isn’t expected to open until early 2020, but in the meantime, you can hone your climbing skills at their gym on Pickle Road.

🌽 New Entrées Ahead

Here’s the good news: True Food Kitchen is about to roll out its summer menu, which means you’ll soon be able to sink your teeth into incredible new creations like the Summer Corn & Tomato Flatbread. Here’s the bad news: You only have a couple more weeks to enjoy delicious dishes like their Pan-seared Chicken Breast. So swing by to get a last taste of their spring selections, then circle back once the new items launch. Not that you needed an excuse to make multiple trips to True Food.

🍹 Chill Sips

Picnik’s Burnet location has announced it is expanding its cocktail menu, offering new signature concoctions like The Amethyst made with gin, butterfly pea purple matcha, raw honey, and lemon. Already excited? Hold on to your hat, because they’ve also partnered with SunUp CBD and are now infusing their famous butter coffee and matcha drinks (along with some of their new cocktails) with 15mg of CBD oil. Sounds pretty chill to us!

💦 Get Sweating

If you’re looking to mix up your fitness routine or try something new, we’ve got just the thing. A-Rod backed boutique fitness studio, TruFusion, is officially open in South Austin, offering over 65 heated and non-heated, high-intensity classes ranging from Pilates and bootcamp to yoga, barre, boxing, and more — a lot more. Even better, they also have a fully-equipped locker room stocked with all sorts of luxury amenities and an in-studio health bar serving up organic bites and drinks.

🇸🇪 In Other News

On Friday, June 21, our local IKEA will be celebrating the longest day of the year with a Swedish Midsummer Smörgåsbord. The annual event invites Swedes and Swedophiles to feast on a buffet of Swedish favorites like salmon, dilled potatoes, herring, and of course, meatballs. Seating times are offered from 6 to 7:30pm, and you can purchase your tickets in store. But seating is limited, so secure your spot in advance!

Happy belated birthday to Austin Pure Barre instructor Devin Howlett. Here’s to another trip around the sun!
