Log Canoe Races, July 30-31
Cruise to the Miles River to watch a quintessential Chesapeake pastime, the Log Canoe Races! The MRYC Gov. Cup Series will take place this weekend on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31

Vintage Raceboat Regatta, July 30-31
The Vintage Raceboat Regatta is this weekend on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 at the headwaters of Breton Bay. They will have a dedicated anchorage area for spectator boats' safety and visibility of the course. Spectators are also invited into Leonardtown Wharf during the racer's lunch break to view close up the original and beautifully restored former raceboats and have a chance to talk to the drivers of these vintage hulls built and raced during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.

Striped Bass Fishery Closed Through July 31
All Maryland areas of the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries are closed to any targeting of striped bass (including catch-and-release) through July 31. The summer season will resume on August 1. Maryland DNR will also resume its striped bass fishing advisory forecast so anglers can better plan their fishing to lessen mortalities. Both snakehead and spotted sea trout are good alternative target species for anglers during the striped bass closure.
