School News

It's Kindness Week!

All week we will be engaging in lunch time activities that generate and spread kindness throughout our school. In addition to high five grams for anyone to deliver to a student or staff, kindness bingo, and kindness buttons, we'll be doing the following:
  • During Raven Support and Success time (RSS)—our social emotional curriculum—we will focus on chain reaction of kindness. Students will write down an act of kindness on a colorful strip of paper. Strips will then be linked together in a school-wide chain reaction of kindness!
  • During our read alouds in classes this week, 6th graders will be reading books on kindness, 7th graders on the power of words, and 8th graders on acceptance.
  • All week in the lunchroom there will be an interactive bulletin board full of random acts of kindness that students can take or make to spread the kind vibes. Throw kindness like confetti!

8th Grade Promotion Volunteers Needed

We're looking for 6th and 7th grade parents to join the 8th grade promotion committee! Pay it forward by ensuring that this year's 8th graders have an evening to remember at the end of June. We have all the notes and experience from last year so it will be a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity, in partnership with 8th grade staff members. Kick-off meeting is Mon, Mar 25 at 4 pm in the front office. Email if you can help!

Vote Now for Safe Routes to Our School!

Note: Voting ends Fri, Mar 1.

We need you to vote for student safety! Voting is open for Seattle's Neighborhood Street Fund improvements, which includes four proposals that would improve our students' safety:
  1. "N 85th St. at Ashworth Ave. N" adds a much-needed traffic light at Ashworth for a safer crossing for our students from the Greenlake area across 85th to our campus and needs more votes
  2. "Green Lake and Licton Springs pedestrian intersection crossing improvements" adds a pedestrian only traffic light phase at N 85th & Wallingford
  3. "Illuminate Aurora" provides additional sidewalk lighting between N 85th and N 105th
  4. "90th and Aurora Crosswalk Safety Improvements"
Anyone can vote—it's quick and easy!

Only those projects that are ranked as highest priority now will move to the next phase later in the year, similar to a primary election, so we need your help. Set up an account, choose region 6 for "N. 85th St. at Ashworth Ave. N" or "Green Lake and Licton Springs pedestrian intersection" or region 5 for the others, rank as high priority, add an opinion if you'd like, and click save. It takes less than a minute. You can up-vote or down-vote any proposals.

Preorder tickets from Brown Paper Tickets for a suggested donation of $10 for individuals or $15 for families.

Lincoln Marching Band Needs Your Support

Marching band is a big part of the high school music experience! Students participating in Lincoln's marching band will be sitting across the field from Roosevelt HS, Ballard HS, and other well-established schools, and we want to help them to feel the kind of school pride that comes when you are talented and well-appointed. Please donate to our fund so that we can purchase marching band uniforms in time for this fall's season. We can "band together" to raise the school banner with Lincoln Lynx pride!
