Principal's Message

Dear Eagle Staff Community,

Welcome to the second semester of the 2018–2019 school year. We finished our first semester with our first ever pep rally, where we celebrated our students’ achievements as scholars, athletes, artists, and activists. We were able to gather as an entire school in our gym, and it was both impressive and loud! Although our wonderful staff members facilitated and supported the process, our students took the lead in performing, hosting, competing, dancing, cheering, and making music. It was a perfect expression of our Raven mission and vision, with student voice at the center of the celebration.

Snow Makeup Days

Stay tuned for information about makeup days for school days as well as extracurricular activities missed due to snow. Two makeup school days are expected to be added to the end of the school year on Jun 21 and 24 per the collective bargaining agreement. Any additional required makeup days are TBD. More information about snow days is available on the district website.

SPS Measles Update

We do not currently have any cases of measles in Seattle Public Schools.

Please monitor your child for signs of measles (fever, diarrhea, coughing, runny nose, red and watery eyes, tiredness with a rash that begins on the face and spreads to the entire body). Read more about measles in multiple languages. Measles is extremely contagious. If your student has measles please keep them home and contact your health care provider.

The best protection against measles for yourself and your children is the MMR vaccine. The MMR vaccine is available from your healthcare provider and for SPS enrolled students at one of our 25 school-based health center sites. If an SPS-enrolled student contracts measles, the King County Department of Health has the authority to exclude the infected student and students without immunizations from school.

If you have questions about your child’s MMR vaccination status, please contact your health care provider, or Health Services at 206-252-0750.

Vote Now for Safe Routes to Our School!

We need you to vote for student safety! Voting is open for Seattle's Neighborhood Street Fund improvements, which includes four proposals that would improve our students' safety:
  1. "N 85th St. at Ashworth Ave. N" adds a much-needed traffic light at Ashworth for a safer crossing for our students from the Greenlake area across 85th to our campus and needs more votes
  2. "Green Lake and Licton Springs pedestrian intersection crossing improvements" adds a pedestrian only traffic light phase at N 85th & Wallingford
  3. "Illuminate Aurora" provides additional sidewalk lighting between N 85th and N 105th
  4. "90th and Aurora Crosswalk Safety Improvements"
Anyone can vote—it's quick and easy!

Only those projects that are ranked as highest priority now will move to the next phase later in the year, similar to a primary election, so we need your help. Set up an account, choose region 6 for "N. 85th St. at Ashworth Ave. N" or "Green Lake and Licton Springs pedestrian intersection" or region 5 for the others, rank as high priority, add an opinion if you'd like, and click save. It takes less than a minute. You can up-vote or down-vote any proposals.

LIKE Documentary Rescheduled

RESMS PTSA is proud to host the original documentary LIKE about the effects of technology and social media on the brain, our lives, and our civilization. Join us for a screening on Wed, Mar 20 in the RESMS commons. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the film showing at 7 pm.

Earlier in the week, all RESMS students will view the film during one of their class periods. Parents and students are encouraged to join us in the evening to be better informed and further the conversation.

The screening of this film aligns with other events happening at RESMS in Feb that center our values of respect, responsibility, and ownership: #BlackLivesMatter Week (Feb 4–8) and Kindness Week (Feb 25–Mar 1).

Preorder tickets from Brown Paper Tickets for a suggested donation of $10 for individuals or $15 for families.

Read the flyer about the LIKE documentary.
