Hello everyone, Happy Holidays!

Our membership is hard at work getting everything ready for today, #GivingTuesday.  We hope you all will participate in any way you can - see below. Also, there are some great ways to volunteer with some upcoming DIADs. The League is adapting and making some really great plans for online holiday celebrations together.

All in all, as I look back on 2020, our league has had a truly wonderful year.  From membership engagement to making a difference in the

community to coming together and working as a high performing team you all have astounded me.  Thank you for your continued support of the league, and I wish you all a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.

Yours in Volunteering,

Today is the day, and we need your help!

There are numerous ways you can help, either through fundraising or assisting in the promotion of the event. You or your friends and family can make a donation, or you can promote #GivingTuesday on social media or Front Porch Forum (click on links for details).

Have you reached out to your friends and family to tell them about all the amazing work the Junior League is doing in the community? The Diaper Bank will be distributing our 450,000th diaper of 2020 to our partner agencies today (December 1), and we have issued a community challenge to raise $7,500, which is our cost to purchase 50,000 diapers, in honor of #GivingTuesay.

As of November 28, the League has received pledges for $4,700, just over half of our goal, and member contributions will be matched by the Board up to $700. Let's keep up the positive momentum and spread the word!!!

JLCV is a Candidate for the VSECU We Care 2 Grant
With sincere thanks to Cassie Gendron, JLCV has been nominated for the We Care 2 Grant from VSECU. VSECU will be selecting 5 finalists in mid-December, who will each be guaranteed a grant of $5,000 and may earn more based on community votes.

One of the factors VSECU will be weighing in their decision is community support in the form of social media engagement.

Members are encouraged to post about this opportunity with the following two tags - #WeCare2 and #VSECU - and to "like" postings about the League and Diaper Bank that include these hashtags.

All nominees can be viewed on the VSECU website. JLCV's We Care 2 page can be viewed here.

Don't forget to (Amazon) Smile this holiday season!
Amazon Smile is a website operated by Amazon that lets you enjoy the same shopping experience as, but with a benefit to the Junior League. Amazon Smile will donate 0.5% of qualifying purchases to the League when you shop and select JLCV as your charity of choice. If you haven't yet registered, please take a moment to visit JLCV's page at

Ronald McDonald House Room Redecorating
We kicked off the Ronald McDonald House room redecoration. A great crew is already planning as we wait to learn a bit more about the room itself. Thanks to Cassie, Katie M., Agnes, Kim B, and Becky for leading the charge.

Watch the event calendar and Facebook for more opportunities to help out.

As you have heard, on Giving Tuesday we will be celebrating the distribution of 450,000 diapers in the year 2020! Our state-wide expansion in this intense time of need has been incredible, and very much appreciated by the receiving agencies. Recall that our original plan was to send out 100,000 diapers each year to nine food shelves in and around only Chittenden County.

We are stocking up on diapers from our discount sources with the CARES funding, so the Bank is getting very full. We will have continued repackaging sessions posted, but the new Covid restrictions allow for only 4 members onsite together. Small family and close friend groups are welcome at any time as long as each participant has viewed the State Covid PowerPoint and signed the JLCV waiver (instructions on the website). Please check in with Amanda or Jessica if you are interested!

A 2021 repackaging session calendar is being created – stay tuned!

Thanks everyone,

Hello Fellow JLCV Members!

We have a brand new opportunity for the month of December. A friend of mine (our children are at the same childcare) is the Director of Nursing at the Elderwood Facility which is a long term rehab facility in Burlington. We will be supporting the staff by making surgical caps and supporting the residents by letter writing. I will need a team of at least 6 people to make surgical caps and a team of at most 6 people to write letters to their 114 residents. In regards to the caps, I have the instructions and can purchase the materials this week. In regards to letter writing, they can accept letters, the letters will quarantine for 72 hours and then they can distribute letters to the residents. I will purchase the material this week.

Keep your eye out on facebook and our internal website for information!!

Thank you,

Hi all and happy holidays!

I wanted to touch base and let everyone know that all in-person socials will be cancelled until further notice.

However we are still planning another Zoom social For Saturday, 12/5, in the style of the Netflix show, Nailed It! Please check the Facebook group for your shopping list. I will be in touch with instructions via e-mail the morning of so that way everyone is on even playing field.

We will also be doing a Yankee Swap for the virtual holiday party. Here is how it will work:

  • Each person who wants to participate purchases a gift for $20 (try to support local businesses!)
  • Take a photo of your gift (unwrapped) and email is to me at: no later than 12/7. I am going to make a board with all the pictures disguised for a visual for the night of!
  • The day of, every person who is participating will get a number.
  • Starting with the person who draws #1, you select a gift.
  • The next person can choose to steal person #1’s gift, or select another, until we have gone through everyone. *There are no limits as to how many times a gift can be stolen
  • At the end, the person who went first will actually get the final choice of gift and can make the final steal.
  • Once all gifts have been finalized you will need to communicate with the person who purchased your gift and  figure out the easiest way to get it. I will also keep a master list just in case!
