Congratulations to our outstanding membership on a busy, often trying, but very successful league year! I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our year end celebration next week at Waterworks, and want to sincerely thank our membership committee, led by Katie Bazzano, for everything they’ve done in preparation for that event.

We have so much to celebrate – seven amazing new members who were recently voted in to active status, a smooth leadership transition thanks to a robust slate, the success of the Diaper Bank and having our voice heard in Montpelier (fingers crossed for passage of the budget), recognition from the Pomerleau Foundation in the form of a $15,000 grant (thank you to new member, Katie Corrigan), the presentation of membership awards, and just being able to be physically together once again!
While the newsletter will be taking a summer hiatus, please be sure to subscribe to the JLCV Private Facebook page and also watch your email for announcements about volunteer and social activities that may arise, as well as the forthcoming schedule for important recruitment activities. I will be participating in the AJLI Annual Conference (virtually) later this month, and the incoming Board will be meeting on June 4 to begin planning for the upcoming league year. If you have thoughts or suggestions that were not captured by your committee during the SWOT analysis exercise that would inform our conversations and planning, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at any time.

Annually, the women of the Junior League of Champlain Valley re-commit themselves to serving the Community. This Spring, as we celebrate the successes of a year well spent, we also look forward to the next League year and all we can accomplish! Member Dues for both Active and Sustaining Members are staying level at $135 and similar to last year, we are offering payment plan options and collecting payments through Stripe.
- Standard Payment - Payment in full (June 15)
- Bi-Annual Payment - 2 installments (June 15 & November 30)
- Quarterly Payment - 4 installments (June 15, August 30, November 30, February 28)
Below you will find a link that will lead you to your 2022-2023 Member Dues payment options directly on our JLCV website. Note that you can pay electronically following the below link (small processing fee is charged) or you can mail a check to PO Box 4418, Burlington, VT 05406. The deadline to submit payment is June 15.
As part of your dues payment, you may elect to make a contribution to the Annual Fund! Your contribution to the Annual Fund supports our shared goal of improving the quality of life for children, women and families in our community through increased awareness, community partnerships, and providing a legacy of trained volunteers.
Note that we never want the Membership fee to be a barrier to remain a member. Please let Jessie Robinson or Jenn Papillo know if you wish to explore alternative ways to meet this membership requirement.
Please pay your 2022-2023 Member Dues HERE by June 15, 2022.
If you have any questions, please email Jessie Robinson at treasurer@jlcv.org.

Members are reminded to submit Reimbursement Requests within 30 days of incurring the expense in accordance with the JLCV Purchasing Policy. Even if you do not wish to receive a reimbursement, you must provide documentation so that your contribution may be allocated to the Annual Fund and the League can accurately capture operating expenses. All reimbursement requests must be accompanied by an itemized receipt. Photos of receipts are perfectly acceptable!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Community Night at El Gato Cantina. Whether you came to eat, told your friends, family, or coworkers, posted on Front Porch Forum, or posted on social media, it made a difference for the League! Even if a fundraiser does not bring in a ton of money (I will update everyone once I have the number), the advertising around the event builds awareness for our organization and could lead to future members and future donors. So thank you again for the work you do to help build up the League!
If you are aware of other local businesses that support non-profits through hosted fundraisers, please email treasurer@jlcv.org.

We just received notification from the Pomerleau Foundation that they are giving $15,000 to the Diaper Bank! Many thanks go to new member and Finance & Fundraising Committee Member Katie Corrigan for drafting the grant letter, and Jennifer Papillo, President-Elect, and Amanda Herzberger, Diaper Bank Coordinator, for their review and edits. It takes a team to raise money and these ladies deserve a HUGE round of applause!
We are still waiting to hear if the Diaper Bank will receive any funding as part of this legislature’s budget process. Until we know for certain, we are looking for other funding opportunities to carry the Diaper Bank at its current operating level through the next year. If you know of any grant opportunities, please reach out to Jessie Robinson at treasurer@jlcv.org.

A HUGE heroic thank you to the volunteers (Sarah Lenes, Jenn Papillo, Jessie Robinson, Cathy Foutz, Kaitlyn Shea, and Kit Cahill) who stepped up last week when we had eighteen pallets delivered on a truck without a liftgate. The boxes had to be unloaded by hand -- not ideal. THANK YOU all so very much. These amazing humans are what make the JLCV so great!
We have a distribution tomorrow and five volunteers from Seventh Generation coming to help our efforts. Last week Sommers Chiropractic dropped off 4,500 diapers from their recent drive so we have plenty to repackage.
Keep an eye on the calendar for summer dates.

Our legislative efforts to continue and we should know within the next week or two whether our request for $180,000 to continue operations for the next year has been approved. If it is not approved, we have a few grant opportunities we are pursuing but will likely have to limit the number of diapers that each partner picks up to make our dollars stretch. The working group has had two meetings and a Request for Proposal has been drafted to solicit bids for someone to lead the process and write the report.

Dates are available to make a meal for spectrum. Feel free to grab a partner, spouse, friend, workmate, child and volunteer to make a meal. Most dates are open so just email me your best date and get cooking. Meals for ~25-30 need to be delivered by 4:30PM the day of or can be delivered the day before. They are in greater need now compared to the holiday season so please consider cooking or buying food for them in the next month or so.
Thanks for being such great partners in volunteering. If you hear of an opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact me and let’s try to set something up. Look for an option to do some gleaning for the food bank in the lte summer.
