Important Tax Information

Per AJLI, dues paid by members to JLCV are tax-deductible, since JLCV is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN:03-0317619), provided that a deduction is only allowed to the extent the dues paid are more than the value received in exchange. Dues paid by new, active, and sustaining members in 2020 were $135, less any scholarship received (if applicable). Contributions made to the Diaper Bank and the Annual Fund are also tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor when preparing your 2020 taxes. If you need a copy of your dues invoice or gift acknowledgement paperwork to substantiate payment, please contact Jenn Papillo at

#GivingTuesday and Year End Thank You

December was an incredibly productive month for the Fundraising Committee, starting with #GivingTuesday, continuing with the receipt of several year end gifts, and notice from VSECU that, while we were not selected for We Care 2 funding, they were pleased to award us a local gift of just over $300. In all, $10,172.50 was raised in the month of December and will be put towards diaper distributions in 2021. Thank you to all members who made a contribution, made an ask, or shared information about the League with others -- it was a team effort!

The Committee is in the process of identifying additional funding opportunities, and hopes to continue the positive momentum established in 2020. Please send any leads or feedback to the Committee by contacting Jenn Papillo at

What a day Giving Tuesday was!

Warm(ish) sunshine, instead of the earlier-predicted rain, made for easy (socially-distanced and masked) distribution of almost 30,000 diapers! Community agencies who picked up that day included our regulars: Hinesburg and Williston Food Shelves, Aunt Dot’s, and Feeding Chittenden, plus the Shelburne Food Shelf, the Janet Munt Family Room, Winooski Mutual Aid, the Family Center of Washington County, and Capstone Community Action. WCAX was on site for over two hours, and several local newspapers ran articles. We also raised enough funds to purchase another 50,000 diapers! We have now passed along over 458,000 diapers in 2020 alone. At the risk of leaving anyone out, thank you to all who participated to this great success. A special shout-out to Sarah Acheves and Jenn Papillo for shoring up the efforts, and to Sarah Lenes and helpers for the arduous task of moving “the Size 2s” from the Essex warehouse to our Bank – dodging that rain.

We have used up all the CARES grant money and have secured diapers for at least the first few months of 2021 while we pursue other funding sources. We continue to have conversations with relevant stakeholders to understand and brainstorm more about how to have a long-term sustainable impact on solving diaper need across Vermont, and hope to have some advocacy opportunities coming up.

Please do sign up on the new schedule of repackaging sessions. In addition to January 5, we have a session set for February 2. SEE the website - and as always, compliance with Covid19 guidelines is required. Currently, four members can participate in each session – and it is amazing what can be accomplished in two hours!  We do have a number of distributions planned in the coming months.

Thanks everyone,
