We have great Sip and Sees coming up so invite your friends and colleagues to come and see what our great group of volunteers is all about.

I'm hoping to have our first General Membership Meeting in Person on September 8th. Please keep an eye out for details. Thank you to everyone who is working so hard for our league and our community partners!

In these challenging times, please take care of yourselves, be safe, and I wish you all a fantastic summer. Reach out to me should you have any questions.

This year we find two of the League's most amazing members moving on to the next phase of their lives. On behalf of the Junior League, we thank Wendy Mustafa and Nancy Warner for their mighty contributions to the League. We were so lucky to have them. I will miss their enthusiasm, dedication, and friendship.

Here is what they are up to now - Please keep in touch!

From Wendy:

"Wendy and her fiance Brent and moving this summer!

Like many people affected by Covid-19, they are considered essential workforce.

To better serve some struggling communities throughout New England, they are relocating to the Boston area. It currently serves as a hub for many states, transitioning as a result of the pandemic.

Plans for a big wedding have been postponed. In its place, a small intimate gathering with close family.

They are excited to be able to help more communities, families and businesses.

Wendy will miss the league, and all it's incredible members! Farewell for now."

From Nancy:

"Hi from sunny Florida,

In the slow season of COVID19, I decided to make some large changes in my life and have transferred my league membership to the Junior League of Tampa. As expected, it's a stark contrast with membership over 1600 members.

The hardest part of making this change was deciding to leave all of you and our work together. I joined the League to find colleagues. Women who didn't find it unusual that someone may choose to spend their free time bettering the world around them. I found more enlightened conversations and a productive social life. I found strong women who continue to support each other. I found friends. Luckily we have all gotten better at staying close while apart so please, let's try the same thing until my life path travels close to yours again.

Until such time, keep in touch via FT & Zoom, or mail to 18314 Cypress Cove Rd, Lutz FL 33549. You can find me on Facebook (Nancy Warner), and my family on Instagram as @ibreedwookies."

Thank you and I hope you have an excellent summer!

A short, 4-5 question survey will be sent out shortly from our Training committee.

This year, our goal for the Annual Fund was to raise between $3,072 and $5,072, depending on how much our Retro Night fundraiser raised. So much of this Junior League year did not go as planned!

In spite of extraordinary challenges, donors showed up for the Annual Fund this year, including several members who donated the cost of their Retro Night tickets rather than receiving reimbursement. Thank you!

A total of $2,964.26 was raised for the Annual Fund this year; just shy of our goal. Of our 56 Junior League members, 36 donated. That's 64% of members! This is a significant increase in the number of members giving from years past.

Our donor gratitude page will soon be set up on our website. Thank you to all who donated to the Annual Fund!

Going forward, I will be transitioning to my new placement as Sustainer Liaison. Annual Fund Chair duties will be taken over by Assistant Treasurer Katie Muttitt. Thanks for a great year!

Thanks for a great year,

We have not yet placed a Fundraising Committee Chair for FY21, and additional Committee members are also needed.

The role of the Fundraising Chair is to develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy, with the support of the Treasurer and Fundraising Committee members, to meet League revenue goals.

There is no right or wrong way to raise funds! Hosting an event (or series of events), grant writing, and online campaigns, are all very real possibilities. We're looking for someone with energy, creativity, and the ability to harness the talents of fellow members and the community. If you are interested, please reach out to Jenn Papillo.

Thank you,
Jenn Papillo

The Diaper Bank has continued to be busy despite our limited number of allowed volunteers. In addition to readying for the bimonthly ~20,000 diapers distribution to our nine regular area food shelves and extras to some of them, emergency supplies of diapers went out to the Janet Munt Family Room, Capstone Community Action in Morrisville and in Washington County, and the Winooski Food Shelf just in the past month.

Amanda participated in a terrific interview with Tim Ashe, current State Senator from Burlington and candidate for Lieutenant Governor – and most key, a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations. You can view the interview here!

That session clearly impacted our most exciting news:

We have received word that $50,000 of Covid-19/CARES funding (federal money being distributed to organizations & businesses by the State) WILL be coming our way!  The monies will likely be funneled through the Vermont Food Bank and should hit our bank account by the end of July.  We will be required to spend the money by the end of the year, so discussions are ongoing around strategy right now.

If members would like to come to the Bank individually or in small family groups to assist with repackaging over the summer, please contact Amanda or Cathy.  Previous newsletters and Facebook messages have outlined the necessary Covid-19 education, certification, and volunteer agreement by each participant.

Thanks everyone,
