George Hampton Wale - An Evening Length Performance
George Hampton Wale is an artist, designer and maker from Abergavenny. Most of George’s  work is sculpturally textile based, surrounding themes of belonging: in a body, in a landscape, in queerness, in Wales.
//
Artist, dylunydd a gwneuthurwr o’r Fenni yw George Hampton Wale. Mae rhan fwyaf o waith George wedi ei seilio ar decstilau cerfluniol, yn amgylchynu themâu o berthyn: mewn corff, mewn tirwedd, mewn queerness, yng Nghymru.

Gwenllian Davenport works between two languages and the conflicts of muscle memory as she switches between them. This process feels bodily and tangible and she sees language as a material, trying to capture the physicality in sculptural, lingual, audible or video based pieces.
//  Mae Gwenllian Davenport yn gweithio rhwng dwy iaith a’r gwrthdrawiadau o gof cyhyr wrth iddi newid rhyngddynt. Mae’r broses hon yn teimlo’n gnawdol a thiriaethol, mae’n gweld iaith fel deunydd ac yn ceisio dal y corfforoldeb mewn darnau sy’ seiliedig ar gerflun, iaith, sain neu fideo.

Mae Adam Moore yn artist Prydeinig- Sant Lwsian trawsddigyblaethol sydd wedi ei leoli yn Llundain a sy’n gweithio gyda dawns. Mae ei waith yn archwilio amlddiwylliannedd, undod a gwydnwch, yn syntheseiddio dimensiynau deunydd, synhwyraidd ac ysbrydol o’r hunan gyda’r byd a gydag eraill.

Adam Moore is a London based British-St. Lucian transdisciplinary artist who works with dance. His work examines multiculturalism, unity and resilience, synthesising material, sensory and spiritual dimensions of the self with the world and with others.

Zillah Bowes is a filmmaker, photographer and poet. Her work frequently explores the role of landscape and its relationship to the individual. Her ongoing connection to nature informs her practice across all mediums.
//
Gwneuthurwr ffilm, ffotograffydd a bardd yw Zillah Bowes. Mae ei gwaith yn aml yn archwilio rôl y tirlun a’i berthynas gyda’r unigolyn. Mae ei chysylltiad cyfredol i natur yn llywio ei hymarferiad ar draws pob cyfrwng.
Zillah Bowes - Taiya

Umulkhayr Mohamed is a Welsh Somali artist, writer, and curator. Her artistic practice involves creating primarily artist moving image and performance work that explores the tension present between enjoying the act of wandering between emancipatory temporalities and a functional need to position oneself in the now.

 In 2022 we are pleased to present Jerwood UNITe in collaboration with Jerwood Arts, an independent funder dedicated to supporting outstanding artists, curators and producers to develop and thrive. With their help we are supporting five places in 2022.

Hwyl Fawr!
//    Goodbye!

Sadly we say farewell to Cohort two, who have - despite their years of uncertainty, change and social distancing - developed and produced amazing work and made going into work a pleasure. We really are going to miss having them in the building. Goodbye to Becca + Clare, Freya Dooley, Rebecca Gould, Rhiannon Lowe, Will RobertsNeasa Terry - who are all currently showing in Aggregate until 29/05/22 at the Freelands Foundation.

Ond gyda thristwch byddwn yn ffarwelio a charfan dau, sydd  – er gwaethaf blynyddoedd o ansicrwydd, newidiadau a phellter cymdeithasol – wedi datblygu a chynhyrchu gwaith anhygoel ac wedi gwneud mynd i'r gwaith yn bleser. ‘Dyn ni wir am eu methu. Hwyl fawr i  Becca + ClareFreya DooleyRebecca GouldRhiannon LoweWill Roberts &  Neasa Terry – sydd i gyd yn arddangos ar hyn o bryd yn Aggregate tan 29/05/22 yn Freelands Foundation.

The Freelands Artist Programme is a landmark initiative to support emerging artists across the UK launched in 2018 by Freelands Foundation. Its aim is to nurture emerging artists’ practices by fostering long-term relationships and collaborations with arts organisations, helping to bolster regional arts ecosystems.

In its first five-year phase, 80 artists have undertaken the programme across four partner organisations: g39, Cardiff; PS², Belfast; Site Gallery, Sheffield; and Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh. The programme offers studio space, career development workshops, talks, mentoring, an annual symposium, exhibition opportunities and an end-of-programme publication.

Further details here.

Mae’r rhaglen yn fenter nodedig i gefnogi artistiaid newydd ledled y DU a lansiwyd yn 2018 gan Freelands Foundation. Ei nod yw meithrin arferion artistiaid sy’n dod i’r amlwg trwy feithrin perthnasoedd a chydweithio hirdymor gyda sefydliadau celfyddydol, gan helpu i gryfhau ecosystemau celfyddydol rhanbarthol.

Yn ei chyfnod pum mlynedd cyntaf, mae 80 o artistiaid wedi cymryd rhan yn y rhaglen ar draws pedwar sefydliad partner: g39, Caerdydd; PS², Belfast; Site Gallery, Sheffield; a Talbot Rice Gallery, Caeredin. Mae’r rhaglen yn cynnig gofod stiwdio, gweithdai datblygu gyrfa, sgyrsiau, mentora, symposiwm blynyddol, cyfleoedd arddangos a chyhoeddiad diwedd rhaglen.

Joy Labinjo: Ode to Olaudah Equiano
26/03/22 - 03/07/22

Joy Labinjo’s large-scale paintings depict intimate scenes of historical and contemporary life, both real and imagined. They are often based on figures appearing in personal and archival imagery that includes family portraits, found photography and historical material. Fundamentally, at the heart of her practice is a bold interest in storytelling and ultimately, people’s lives.
//
Mae paentiadau graddfa fawr Joy Labinjo yn cyfleu golygfeydd agos o fywyd hanesyddol a chyfoes, gwirioneddol a dychmygol. Maen nhw’n aml yn seiliedig ar ffigurau sy’n ymddangos mewn delweddaeth bersonol ac archifol, sy’n cynnwys portreadau teulu, ffotograffau a ddarganfuwyd, a deunydd hanesyddol. Yn ei hanfod, wrth galon ei harfer mae diddordeb beiddgar mewn adrodd straeon ac yn y pen draw, ym mywydau pobl.

Support g39

Cefnogwch g39

There are lots of ways you can support g39 and our programme, without it costing you anything.

Rydym wedi ymuno a easyfundraising. Yn syml,  os rydych yn siopa ar-lein trwy eu porth nhw, maent yn cyfrannu % i g39. O Screwfix i Ebay, Ethical Superstore i Durex mae modd ein cefnogi. Neu os ydych yn gyrru i Gaerdydd ac yn meddwl talu ar gyfer parcio, beth am archebu lle yn ein maes parcio ni gyda Justpark.
Mae’n bosib cyfrannu unrhyw bryd trwy ein cyfrif paypal, neu dapio cerdyn ar y man cyfrannu yn g39, neu ollwng ychydig geiniogau yn ein blychau cyfrannu yn ystod eich ymweliad nesaf. Mae o hyd yn beth anghyfforddus gofyn am gyfraniadau pan mae gymaint o achosion da i gefnogi – ond mae’r arian yn ein helpu i gadw ein hadnoddau rhaglenni cymorth am ddim i’r rhai sydd eu hangen.

Mae yno lawer o ffyrdd sut y gallwch gefnogi g39 a’n rhaglen, heb wario
ceiniog.

We’ve joined easyfundraising. Basically, if you shop online but through their portal, they donate a % to us. From Screwfix to ebay, Ethical Superstore to durex you can do your bit. Or if you’re driving to Cardiff and are going to pay for parking, why not book our carpark on Justpark with us?

You can donate at any time too through our paypal account, or tapping a card on the donation point at g39, or just dropping some coins in the donation boxes next time you visit. It’s always uncomfortable asking for donations when there are so many many things to support out there - but all of this helps keep our resources and support programmes free for those that need them.

We hope this mix of things is welcome. If there is anything you want to see more of, features you want to see, suggestions or things you want featured, send them to warp@g39.org as early as possible
and we’ll try to include them.
//
Gobeithio bod y cymysgedd yma o bethau o groeso. Os oes unrhyw beth hoffech weld mwy ohono, nodweddion hoffech weld, awgrymiadau neu unrhyw beth arall hoffech weld yma, anfonwch nhw at warp@g39.org
cyn gynted a sy’n bosib, a cheisiwn ni eu cynnwys.

Cadwch yn saff ag iach //
Keep safe and well,
