Boys and Girls Basketball
Postseason Play

Congratulations to the Upper School Panthers Boys and Girls Basketball Teams on their success this season! Both teams advanced to postseason play, and while they fell short of victory in the quarterfinals, they had incredible seasons! We want to especially thank the coaches for pouring their time into mentoring our students. Thank you, Dacen Wright and Caleb Buckland (boys coaches) and Ryan Lalonde and David Kresin (girls coaches) for your commitment! We also want to acknowledge all of our seniors for their leadership on the teams. Congratulations, Panthers!

Be sure to check the PVCP athletics calendar and come on out to support PVCP's spring sports teams at upcoming home games!

Classroom Space for 2022

We are approaching capacity in several grades for next year, and we want to ensure we have room for all of our current students who wish to return. With waitlists established in several grades this year, we expect that will be the norm for the foreseeable future. If you have not yet registered and intend to do so, please take a moment to connect with Mrs. Cornelius as soon as possible at

Save On Your Tuition!

T.R.I.P. is back! Family referrals are one of the primary ways new families learn about PVCP, and we want to reward you for your efforts in spreading the word about our incredible community! Through T.R.I.P., your family will receive a $1,000 tuition credit for each student you recruit. There is no limitation to the number of students you can recruit, so in theory, you can cover all your tuition through the recruitment of new students!

Half of the credit will be applied to student accounts in December and the other half in May. Recruited students must remain for the duration of the school year to receive full credit. Credits will be prorated for students who leave before the completion of an academic year. Credit is good for one year only and does not carry over to subsequent years the recruited family is enrolled.

Mrs. Cornelius is available and ready to conduct tours for your contacts, so have them sign up today!

Mark your calendars for the next PAC parent coffee on Friday, March 4, from 8 to 9 a.m. Come get a Mama’s Cold Brew for yourself and deliver one to your students' teachers! We will be talking about how PAC can be a part of the upcoming PVCP Open House Night on Tuesday, April 5.

Make Your STO Contributions by April 15!

Did you know that there is still time to make sure your 2021 state income taxes go to a cause that you believe in? By making a donation to a qualified "School Tuition Organization" (STO), like APSTO, you can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit when filing your 2021 state tax return, all while making a Christian education available to more people! That means if you owe the State of Arizona $1,000 in income taxes, and you make a $1,000 donation to an STO, you now owe the state nothing!

When making a donation to an STO, be sure to designate Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory or a PVCP student other than your own as the intended recipient. When designating PVCP, this gives us the ability to support families within our community who might need additional help in covering their tuition.

Because the contribution deadline is April 15, you can actually determine what you owe to the State of Arizona and then make a donation to offset it before filing your taxes!

A list of STO's with which PVCP partners may be found here.

Thursday Food & Fellowship: 8th-12th Grade

We're excited to welcome Scottsdale Bible Church Cactus Campus Youth Pastor Ethan Clark to campus on Thursdays at lunch for food and fellowship! The group will meet in room 301 from 11 to 11:25 a.m. Food and Fellowship is a lunch club built upon the three pillars of faith, truth, and community. We discuss faith through asking questions in a safe environment, seek truth through earnestly looking for answers, and engage in community through pizza and fellowship!

The club will not meet on the following Thursdays: 2/17, 3/17, 3/24, or 3/31.

International Host Families Needed

Please consider opening your homes and hearts to an international student attending PVCP for the 22-23 school year! When you host a student, you give an incredible gift. You give an international student the chance to fulfill his or her dreams of experiencing the American way of life. You give your family the opportunity to learn and appreciate different cultures. You give your community an eager new member with fresh eyes and fresh perspectives. Most of all, you give one another the warmth of friendship and family bonds that last a lifetime. We are in need of several families to host students from various European and Asian countries. Currently, we are looking for homes for two girls:
  • Marta from Spain will be in 10th grade. She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and is excited to be involved with sports.
  • Gadea is from Spain and will be in 10th grade. She comes from a large, close-knit family and is hoping to be in a home where she can expand her family even further. She loves animals, listening to music, and volleyball.
If you feel called to make a difference in the lives of one of our students, please contact Cristi Youngkin at 602-615-0776 or, or you can contact Mrs. Cornelius for more information.

Dual Credit Registration Deadline: March 11

All dual credit spring courses are open for registration now through March 11, 2022. Colorado Christian University has certified several PVCP courses for college credit, which saves your student time and money in college, no matter which college they decide to attend.

If students registered for credit in these courses in the fall, that secured them an initial three credits. However, in the courses listed below, students may sign up for three additional college credits this spring.

  • 11th/12th English with Mrs. Van Dam: CCU ENG-205 (Spring)
  • 11th American History with Mr. Nyhart: CCU HIS-206 (Spring)
  • 11th Grade Church History and Worldview Analysis with Mr. Nyhart: CCU HIS-211A (Spring)
  • Calculus with Mrs. Bell: CCU MAT-241/242 (Spring)

Registration instructions may be found here. If you have trouble registering, please contact CCU directly. PVCP cannot assist in this process. If you have questions about the program in general, please contact Mr. Nyhart at

Yearbook Photos Needed

The 2021-2022 PVCP Yearbook is in progress, and we need your photos - field trips, sports, events, candids, etc. E-mailing Mr. Astemborski ( is the easiest way to submit photos, but you can also download the Herff Jones eShare App for Apple or Android and enter the School Code “PVCP” to submit your images. Thank you for your support!

Volunteer Hours

One of the great ways we foster community while supporting our incredible school is through family volunteer hours. Every PVCP family is asked to volunteer 20 hours of their time over the course of the school year. These hours should be logged in Praxi (directions below) as they occur to be approved by administration. Any unmet hours will be charged to the AR account at the end of the year at the amount of $15 per missed hour. Parents can get involved through volunteering at your grade level assigned events (sign up below), helping in the classroom, assisting with sporting events and clubs, attending PAC events or meetings, and more!
