A Vote for Skeleton Lake

The proposed Lippa Quarry, poses a multi-dimensional threat to Skeleton Lake and its watershed. It is a threat to peace and tranquility, to water quality, to air quality, to flora and fauna, to road safety and maintenance, and to property values.

The site for the proposed quarry is on Butler Mill Road, which is located in Ward B of the Township of Muskoka Lakes.

Ward B is currently represented by three councillors:
  • Allen Edwards (district / township councillor acclaimed)
  • Gordon Roberts (township councillor)
  • Susan Mazan (township councillor)
All three of these councillors have worked together in opposition to the Lippa Quarry application. They have attended meetings with local residents, such as Ross Earl, to discuss concerns about the proposed Lippa Quarry. They have voted against an Official Plan amendment that would have allowed the Lippa Quarry application to proceed. They have all been strong advocates for strengthening pro-environment policies during the revision of the TML Official Plan, especially policies that will protect waterfront areas from threats posed by the Aggregate Industry.

If you are concerned about the proposed Lippa Quarry, then please remember the track records of Gordon Roberts and Susan Mazan when you vote on October 24.
