Reform Gravel Mining Coalition - Online Presentation

On November 10 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, the RGMC will be launching Phase 2 of their campaign to reform gravel mining in Ontario.

The leaders of several community groups involved in resisting applications for gravel mining, will be reporting on their progress and challenges.

David Donnelly, an environmental lawyer who has been working with us to block the Lippa Quarry application, will be speaking about proposed changes to the Planning Act that would prohibit third party appeals by individual residents, or resident groups, of municipal decisions to rezone land for aggregate extraction. This could have serious implications for people like Ross Earl, who has been fighting to protect his waterfront property from potential threats posed by the Lippa Quarry proposals. It could also restrict community groups, like the Skeleton Lake Cottagers Organization, which has been fighting against the Lippa Quarry application on behalf of its membership.

This presentation will be an excellent opportunity for us to learn from other groups that are facing many of the same challenges that we are encountering in our campaign against the Lippa Quarry application. Please plan to join this online meeting at 7pm on November 10 and RSVP here.
