Out and About with Stephanie
I’m kicking off a new format for my newsletter to give you more tips and ideas about what’s going on with networking groups in the Portland/Vancouver area. If you don’t live in this area, I’m sure you will find some similar trends with the networking groups in your city.
I’ve been visiting new networking groups as September is showing how people are ready to get back to business after the summertime fun. What I really like is that I’m seeing more different types of networking groups popping up. It keeps things fresh and people respond well to these new formats too.

Two groups I would like to spotlight this month are eWomenNetwork Portland Chapter and Women to Women Network in Tualatin.

Some of you may know that I was the Executive Managing Director for the Portland Chapter of eWomenNetwork for four years. It’s a wonderful group of ladies that meet a couple of times a month. More of a traditional type of networking with a guest speaker, luncheon and focused networking, you leave with some wonderful connections and ideas. Rose Jubb has stepped up to lead this chapter now and brings a ton of energy and enthusiasm to this inspiring group of entrepreneurial women.

The other group I visited is called Women to Women Network in Tualatin. It is run by the brilliant Liz Hatcher and brings different types of networking events for women. I went to her “Coffee and Conversation” meeting which happens the second Monday of each month at 9AM. What I liked about this event is she really encouraged people to discuss a topic and share ideas to help others grow. This month she had a special guest facilitator, Heather Morrison, who spoke about the importance of having core values and a mission statement for your business. She helped lead a thought provoking conversation.

TIP
Check out a group’s website before attending if they are an established group. What is their mission statement? Does it resonate with who you like to work with?
What type of events and programming do they offer their members? How does that work with your schedule?
