An Evening with Peter Chu — Ogden, Utah — October 13, 2018

Last year, Peter Chu was the chosen as the winner of the Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival, when SALT entered the competition with Peter's work, Paper Cuts. A part of the prize was an opportunity to present an evening of work in Ogden, Utah, a chance too rare to pass up. The evening will consist of performances by SALT Dance, chuthis., and Nevada Youth Dancer's Company,  a company under the directorship of Bunker Dance Center.  chuthis. company member Jenni Berthelot spent two weeks with SALT Dance this September, staging the two works that the company will perform: Floating After Times and paper cuts in an empty bag (excerpts.) Additionally, Jenni will represent  chuthis., performing Face Her.

In conjunction with the performance, Peter will teach a workshop class from 4:30-6:00 p.m. prior to the start of the show. Workshop tickets may be purchased by calling Peery’s Egyptian Theater at 801-689-8700. This special one-night-only performance will be held at Peery's Egyptian Theater in Ogden, Utah, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here chuthis. is honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to share Peter's work with a Utah audience!

Upcoming: Juilliard New Dances 2018

We are thrilled to share the news that Peter has been commissioned by the Juilliard Dance Division to create a new work for Juilliard New Dances 2018! Peter will spend the next several weeks in New York City, where he will be working with the third-year dancers on this new creation, which will also feature musicians from the Juilliard Jazz Division. New Dances: Edition 2018 runs December 7-11 — tickets can be purchased here.

Here is a little more about what you can expect to see, in Peter's own words:
A collaboration between the Dance Division and the Jazz Studies will expose the audience to a reimagined Juilliard stage that will touch upon "rarely admitted changes" we experience when our perspectives shift. Rhythms connect humans and help us grow. A communal experience without social barriers is celebrated when moving and working together––its profound effect on others can heal during times of uncertainty!

Point Park University — 4 yous

This past September, Peter had the honor of visiting Point Park University to set a work on the Conservatory Dance Company! Because Peter attended PPU for a year before heading to Juilliard, these two weeks were  a particularly special walk down memory lane for him. Peter set 4 yous, a work premiered by chuthis. this June, on three casts of dancers. He was highly impressed with their integrity, maturity, and artistry, truly a testament to the program at PPU.  Peter would like to thank Garfield Lemonius, Chair of Dance, for inviting him back to Point Park, and Kiki Lucas, for taking such immaculate care of this work.

The Conservatory Dance Company will perform 4 yous alongside works by Mark Burrell, Christopher Huggins, and Jae Man Joo, October 11-14, 2018 at the George Rowland White Performance Center at Point Park University.  Tickets can be purchased here. On behalf of all of chuthis., toi toi toi to the dancers of 4 yous!
