Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,

We hope that you are enjoying this beautiful change of seasons! We are excited to share with you news of Peter's upcoming commissions and world premieres, as well as reflections on our chuthis. fall activities. Read on to find out when and where you can see Peter's work performed this fall!

Giordano Dance Chicago - premiere

Peter was thrilled to once again create on Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC), America's original jazz dance company! Peter, assisted by chuthis. company member Jenni Gordon, spent two weeks with the company in September, creating a brand new work titled Groove, in formed.  Composer and Guitarist Jake Kelberman joined the artistic team, recording and composing new music for the work.

GDC will premiere Groove, in formed, on Chicago's Harris Theater stage October 25th & 26th. Also on the program is the return of Can’t Take This Away by Randy Duncan, a deeply moving and spiritual work featuring live vocals by the Bourné Family, Marinda Davis’ Flickers, and Alberto Arias’ classically smooth Surrender, being pulled from the Company’s repertory vault after a 20-year hiatus. Lauded as “one of our city’s foremost cultural treasures” by See Chicago Dance, GDC’s performances promise to astound even the most seasoned dance enthusiast. Don't miss your chance to see this incredible program!

Commission — Gibney Dance Company

Peter is hard at work on a brand new creation for Gibney Dance Company in New York City! He is currently spending six weeks with the company, developing the work. Composer and Guitarist Jake Kelberman will again create a new score that will be performed live. Victoria Bek, whose work has been seen at The Park Avenue Armory, Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and more, is designing costumes.

GDC’s Fall 2019 season, BOTH/AND, explores what happens when seemingly opposing ideas are invited to co-exist in direct relationship to one another, rather than in isolation. In response to a pervasive ‘either/or’ mentality in our world, how can we move toward embracing a philosophy of ‘both/and’— as people, as artists, and as citizens of the world? When diverse ways of thinking and being are brought in close enough proximity, they interact to create a third culture together that didn’t exist before. How can we better facilitate this oftentimes paradoxical, yet beautiful, alchemy?

Alongside Peter's new creation will be a second world premiere by Choreographer Stefanie Batten Bland. If you're in NYC, don't miss your chance to witness the beautiful dancers of Gibney Dance Company!

The Dance Studio of Fresno to perform Floating After Times (Excerpts)

This month, chuthis. Company Member Jenni Gordon returned to The Dance Studio of Fresno to set excerpts of Floating After Times on twelve of the school's advanced dancers. Jenni spent four days with the dancers, teaching daily class and staging the work. This is a difficult work for younger artists, and they are handling it beautifully! Thank you to Director Sue Sampson-Dalena for bringing repertoire of this type to your school. We look forward to seeing how this piece progresses throughout the year!

recap: chuthis. Perspectives — Miami, FL & Fresno, CA

Our fall season of chuthis. Perspectives is off to a beautiful start! chuthis. Perspectives, formerly called chuthis. Moves, is an initiative to curate a platform for seasoned women educators to share their wealth of knowledge with the next generation.

We began the season in Miami, Florida, hosted by Miami Dance Collective. Peter was joined by Artistic Director of Giordano Dance Chicago, Nan Giordano. The dancers took classes in Qi Gong, chuthis. Ideas, chuthis. Repertoire, American Jazz Dance, and Jazz Repertory. It was a truly special weekend!

Next, chuthis. Perspectives was hosted by The Dance Studio of Fresno in Fresno, California! chuthis. Company Member Jenni Gordon joined Peter Chu for this workshop. Dancers were able to experience chuthis. Repertoire co-taught by Jenni & Peter, as well as Modern Dance, Qi Gong, and chuthis. Ideas.

We are so proud of the growth of each and every participant of chuthis. Perspectives! We love being a small part of your journey.

Upcoming: chuthis. Perspectives in Las Vegas, NV!
