Recap: chuthis. Moves in Las Vegas

We are thrilled to have hosted another weekend of chuthis. Moves, this time in our hometown of Las Vegas. Peter Chu was joined by special guest Alexandra Wells for the two-day workshop, a weekend of supplemental education. The dancers had classes in Image Tech, Ballet, Qi Gong, chuthis. Ideas & chuthis. Repertoire, in addition to participating in mentoring sessions with Peter & Alexandra.

More about the impact of this unique movement education program...

"This past weekend with Peter Chu and Alexandra Wells was so eye opening, not only physically but also cognitively. It reminded me of why I've decided to continue prospering this career. It also allowed me to realize my future capabilities and evolving knowledge."

—Emma Welter, Student

"chuthis. Moves always surpasses our expectations. The wealth of information given by Alexandra Wells and Peter Chu is so invaluable to their training that the dancers experience tangible results daily."

—Robert Contreras, Director, Nevada Youth Dancer's Company
Upcoming: Juilliard New Dances 2018

Peter is hard at work on a creation for the third-year class at The Juilliard School in New York City.
He has been having an amazing time working with the dancers and collaborating with the Juilliard Jazz Division. The new work will premiere on December 7th, 2018. Performances of Peter's creation, along with works by Marcus Jarrell Willis, Nelly Van-Bommel, and Stefanie Batten Bland run from December 7-11, 2018, at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Purchase tickets here. On behalf of all of us at  chuthis., we'd like to wish the dancers 'toi, toi, toi' for their performances!

Giordano Dance Chicago performs Divided Against

chuthis. was thrilled to find out that Giordano Dance Chicago included Peter's work Divided Against (2016) in their fall program at The Harris Theater! We hear that the shows went beautifully—congratulations to the entire GDC Team! chuthis. is so proud that Divided Against was received favorably among audiences.

Here's what one critic had to say...

"The anomaly is the return of Peter Chu’s “Divided Against,” which offers the only respite from the evening’s high-octane spunkiness. . . .Nevertheless, it feels richer and more satisfying every time they perform this piece. . . .the arcs of the piece are mined by the viewer in the subtle moments when you find yourself staring at the concave surfaces of the dancers’ backs turned toward us, or swaying with them in your seat as they retreat upstage, cautiously rocking to and fro between their feet, an arm slowly rising above their heads."

Upcoming: Las Vegas Workshop with Giordano Dance Chicago!

We love and respect GDC immensely! The company's commitment to sharing and preserving the American Jazz Dance legacy of Gus Giordano, while also striving to remain current, is admirable. That is why we are announcing a huge opportunity for Las Vegas dancers this December! Check out the flyer below, and don't miss this chance to hone your classical foundation.

Grier School — Tyrone, PA

chuthis. was thrilled to have an opportunity this month to connect with the Grier School's Pre-Professional Dance Program in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Directed by Jocelyn Hrzic, this program aims to prepare dancers for dance conservatories and professional life. chuthis. company member Jenni Berthelot traveled to Pennsylvania for one week to work with the pre-professional company. She spent 5 days teaching chuthis. ideas and setting Floating After Times (excerpts) on the dancers. Thank you to Jenni for sharing this work with the next generation!

Then, this past weekend, Peter participated in the Grier Gala, performing two solos alongside other dance companies from around the United States. Additionally, he taught two master classes and held rehearsal with the Grier School's Pre-Professional Company. It was a wonderful weekend connecting with students, professionals, and teachers!  A huge thank you to Jocelyn Hrzic for welcoming chuthis. to Pennsylvania!
