NCHCA Recruitment & Retention Project

The NCHCA Recruitment & Retention Project is underway and focus group interviews have commenced for the following groups:

  • large construction companies
  • small to medium companies
  • women in construction
  • visible minorities in construction
  • newcomers to Ontario
  • high school teachers & guidance counsellors
  • high schools students

Request for Information: Supply Chain Shortages
We are gathering formation regarding current or anticipated supply chain shortages in order to keep the industry advised.

We are advised that some members are experiencing difficulty obtaining locates in a timely manner which is impacting their work and ability to meet contractual commitments.

Extension of CVOR and Oversize/Overweight Permits 

MTO has extended the validity of Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR), annual oversize/overweight permits and semi-annual and annual vehicle inspections that expired on or after March 1, 2020. These will continue to remain valid and legal past the expiry date until further notice. .

Please be aware that this is not an exemption. Past fees are postponed but not waived. When you update vehicle information or renew, you will be required to pay all outstanding fees.

As advised by MTO: We are offering an extension for both the safety of members of the public and staff to not have to attend a Service Ontario Centre. This is not an exemption. These fees are regulated under the HTA and are not negotiable. Therefore, the past fees are postponed, not waived.

NCHCA / City Liaison
The next NCHCA / City Liaison meeting is Friday, January 22, 2021, at 8:00 am.
