Our Mission: To provide and promote a safe and healthy environment for dogs of recovering addicts and alcoholics.
2020 Spring Newsletter
Dear Friends,

2020 has already given us many unexpected surprises and challenges we've never faced before. With the COVID-19 outbreak, Dogs Matter's services are needed now more than ever.

Many of our clients in our Aftercare Program rely on our supportive services that include food and medical support. Many more are out of work and are now struggling more than ever to stay sober. Our Recovery Coach is working hard to give the support our clients need in these challenging times. We have added dog walking services for our clients that are working extra shifts in their essential jobs.

On top of everything else going on, our bills are mounting. Our temporary boarding bills have exceeded our yearly budget due to lack of foster homes and the need for clients to go into inpatient services immediately. And our medical bills have been over $7,000 in less than two months.

Two of our dogs needed round-the-clock care to save their lives. The good news is they are both recovering and living healthy, quality lives. You can read more about these two recovery stories below...

Aspen came to us diagnosed with Lepto and in kidney failure. His health was frail and grim at times. After several trips to the vet for life saving treatment, Aspen is now back with his owner who is sober and providing the care Aspen needs. Aspen will continue to need over $150 a month in medications and a special diet.
Roscoe was malnourished, in kidney failure, blind and deaf. Our client could no longer care for him. He needed several kidney dialysis treatments and injections to save his life. Roscoe has recently been adopted and now able to live out his years in a special home for geriatric dogs. Thank you Nancy Collins for providing the perfect home.

We must raise $20,000 in the next 60 days to complete the program year or we will have to begin cuts to our Aftercare Program, Boarding, and Medical services. Any amount you can give right now will help to save lives and give second chances.

Please considering donating so we can continue to provide our services and make more lifesaving reunions possible -- see recent reunion video below.

Thank you for your continued support!

Some Happier News - A Touching Reunion
Diesel was rescued from a trap house 7 months ago when his owner was arrested and Diesel was left behind. Diesel was malnourished, skittish and full of anxiety. Dogs Matter took care of his medical needs and found him a foster home where he could decompress and be loved and well cared for. Diesel's Mom would work hard over the next several months on her recovery and becoming a responsible owner again. In February, Diesel and owner were reunited for the first time in over 6 months. They will be part of our Aftercare Program to make sure both stay healthy and live responsibly together.
