Happy Holidays!
2020 has been a busy, challenging, and rewarding year for Dogs Matter. Of course the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everyone, but it can be especially difficult for people with substance use disorders and mental health concerns. Dealing with the isolation and limited interaction with those we typically lean on can be overwhelming. As the rates of enrollment in treatment facilities continue to climb, so does the need to help the dog that suffers along with the addicted owner. And that's why Dogs Matter's services are needed now more than ever.
Dogs Matter is the only nonprofit organization in the country providing free, temporary foster care placement and supportive services specifically for dogs of those suffering from addiction that seek inpatient drug/alcohol treatment. Giving second chances and the opportunity to reunite our clients with their dogs is what we are all about.
Our 2020 Year in Review:
- fostered more than 90 dogs via their owners or referrals
- provided over 4,000 days/nights of foster care
- reunited 85% of our clients with their dogs after successful treatment
- foster applications – 53
- surrender applications – 112
- spayed and neutered 22 dogs
- provided vaccinations and complete physicals for 36 dogs
- continued to grow our Aftercare Program
- and not a single dog had to be surrendered to a shelter
To our amazing foster families, friends, supporters, volunteers, followers, donors, and partners... THANK YOU!!
