Alpha Sigma Lambda is an honor society which partners with colleges and universities to celebrate the scholarship and leadership of adult students in higher education. ASL is devoted to the advancement of scholarship and recognition of nontraditional students continuing their education.

Important Chapter Reminders
  1. 2018 Chapter dues invoices will be emailed to the chapter councilor we have on file mid November.   Please submit payment as soon as possible to avoid any delays in shipping of supply orders.     
  2. Please send your new inductee lists for 2017 to our office by using the downloadable form on our website under the chapter councilor tab at the top of the page if you have not already done so.
  3. Chapter Status forms for the year 2017 are due no later than December 1, 2017. A link to the form will be sent in an email along with your chapter dues payment invoice for 2018. Please be prompt in completing and submitting this form.
  4. Scholarship applications for the  2018-19 year will be available on our website mid-January, 2018.  An email notification will be sent to chapter councilors once the application materials are available.  Please encourage students to apply as this is an excellent opportunity for them.
  5. Alpha Sigma Lambda has been using MailChimp as a way for chapter councilors and members to receive our Midnight Oil Newsletter and important announcements, reminders, etc.  Once a chapter change information is completed and submitted to the home office, we will automatically subscribe you to this mailing list.   Anyone who visits our website may now subscribe to our mailing list.  To unsubscribe, simply click on the unsubscribe button at the bottom of one of the emails that you have received.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society chapter at your institution.  We are very appreciative of the work that you do to help us to recognize the adult learner for their outstanding achievements in higher education.

Summer Inductions

In June 2017, Northwestern University School of Professional Studies, Alpha Sigma Lambda Alpha Chapter, held their annual Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society Induction Ceremony and Reception. The School of Professional Studies was proud and excited to recognize the achievements of 22 graduating students inducted into ASL Membership for the 2016-2017 academic year. Family, friends, and ASL Alumni we all present to celebrate the remarkable achievement of these students. At the ceremony, School of Professional Studies Dean Gibbons and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs, Dr. Peter Kaye, spoke about not only the honor of ASL membership but also the responsibility to inspire those around to their own academic achievements.

Alpha Sigma Lambda currently sets a goal each year to award more scholarships and to increase the amount of the award.  
ASL granted three scholarships at $500 each in 1985. 

In the 2017-18 academic year, Alpha Sigma Lambda granted a total of twelve $3000 scholarships.
