A fantastic start

Firstly, a BIG thank you to all of you for registering and taking up the challenge to get backyard trapping. There are nearly 200 of you in the community already, which is a tremendous start!

Thanks also to everyone that helped make our launch at the Seatoun Bowling Club go so smoothly.

Trapping success

The first kill reports were made within 24 hours of the launch, and in less than three weeks the tally stands at 38 rats and 47 mice.

There have been multiple catches in some locations and it seems that peanut butter really is the rodents’ favourite.
The first rat caught on Gore Street.

Reporting and logging kills

Let us know each time you catch something.  To make it easier from a data-entry point of view, please send an email to with CATCH in the subject line. Then tell us what you've caught and your address eg

1 x rat @ your address

We’re using a really cool GIS tool to log the kills throughout the suburb. GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems. It is a mapping technology that allows the user to create and interact with a variety of maps and data sources.
