Sips & Stanzas Presents: The Brazen & Brilliant Julius Eastman
New York native Julius Eastman's legacy is one shrouded in both mystery and glamour. Known for composing works that defiantly affirmed his identity as an African American and as a gay man, his music has been described as wild, grand, delirious, and demonic. Years after his death, his manuscripts have resurfaced and have garnered much attention as an incomplete, but compelling collection of scores and readings.

Tune in this Thursday, April 15 at 7PM CDT/8PM EDT on Facebook Live as NMAAM celebrates one of the most engaging and enigmatic composers in modern history. The evening begins with a virtual concert live from The Roots theater inside the museum, followed by a conversation about Julius Eastman's life and work. You won't want to miss this event!
