Youth Sport Trust – COVID-19 Home and School Learning supportNEW! FREE resources
At the beginning of April 2020 when schools were closed for the first time during lock-down, Youth Sport Trust developed a series of free resources to support home learning, to encourage physical activity of young people and to support those pupils in school. These resources remain available and continue to be added to. Now there are also some new resources which are available.and can be downloaded here.
Picture News UPDATED!
We are here to support teachers and parents as much as possible as we navigate the tricky weeks ahead.
Until February half term, we'd like to offer a weekly home-learning news resource free of charge.
Each Friday at 7am, you will receive a poster pack focusing on a current news story and learning resources to support.
You will also have access to our weekly virtual assemblies which complement the resources.
Open to parents and teachers. To register your interest, please send us a message with your email address and we will send across further details.
Schools will continue to receive the weekly resources and should have received their first pack on Friday 1 January which posed the question “Should anyone be allowed a pet?”
Wolverhampton COVID-19 Mutual Aid NEW!
This is a Facebook group dedicated to promoting mutual aid in Wolverhampton in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. They believe ordinary people can create a fundamentally better world through grassroots community action and solidarity – motivated by compassion, not profit.
These children have been in school this week as part of our 'Key Worker Bubble'. They have created the following Chuck Close portrait in art. Can you work out who it is?
Heath Park High School
Heath Park kindly stepped in right at the last minute after a local care home contacted Picture News to ask for help in finding a partner school for the Hearts for Homes project.
"We were delighted to be able to get involved in the Hearts for Homes campaign, where students from Heath Park and the residents from New Cross Care Home exchanged messages of much needed hope and joy over Christmas. To all the residents living locally in care homes, let's hope 2021 brings peace and love to all".
ConnectEd's NQT PRIMARY AND SECONDARY POOL 2020-2021
As you may be aware Education Central who previously administered the NQT Pool on behalf of ConnectEd Partnership has recently been disestablished and as a result will not be offering an NQT Pool for 2020/2021.
However, ConnectEd are delighted to announce that, in partnership with SIPs Education (Sandwell LA), we have established our own recruitment portal which is now open to final year Primary and Secondary ITT students.
Our application form can be downloaded using this link at the bottom of this page.
The application window will close on 12th February 2021.
It is anticipated for Primary applications the selection and interview process will take place shortly after February half term and we will be looking at potentially involving a number of headteachers to support this process.
Secondary schools will be granted access to a Secondary specific database.
Further updates and information will be sent to all schools in due course.
In the meantime ConnectEd will be actively promoting and marketing the new pool to universities, partner organisations, Wolverhampton Local Authority and schools to attract and recruit high quality NQTs to work in our schools.
We would be grateful if you could share the advert and application form below as widely as possible using your social media platforms and with students who may be on placement in your school and are seeking NQT posts in Wolverhampton and / or Sandwell. Your support will be very much appreciated.
This information can also be found on our website. If you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact Harinder Jandu.

SEND and Commissioning Partnership Board
It is hoped that a primary and a secondary representative to the Board can be agreed before the first scheduled meeting on 20 January. There has been a lot of interest in these roles.
The nominations for primary representative are Mrs Nasa of Graiseley Primary, Miss Pritchett of Berrybrook Primary and Mr Rogers of Northwood Park Primary. Primary colleagues should have received further information via an email sent on 17 December. Thank you to those colleagues that have already voted for their preferred representative. If you would like to vote please email the name of your preferred representative to Kate Hodgetts by 5pm on Monday 11 January.
A number of secondary colleagues expressed an interest in the secondary representative role. Any colleagues that are interested in the role are asked to forward a supporting statement to Kate Hodgetts providing information on experience/particular interest in the area that can then be shared with secondary colleagues to inform their decision in voting for a representative. Please forward your statement to Kate Hodgetts by 5pm on Tuesday 12 January.

Materials to support teachers and schools planning and delivering maths teaching in school and remotely at both primary and secondary level are available from the NCETM. All are accessible from the dedicated Covid support page on the NCETM website.
For primary schools and teachers, the 180 primary video lessons produced during the first lock-down are still available. Each lesson has an accompanying teacher guide, and PowerPoint slides of the lesson for teachers to adapt themselves. There are also resources linked to the DfE guidance published in July 2020. These include ready-to-use training materials, a short introductory video, and a suite of 79 PowerPoints focusing on the ready-to-progress criteria found in the DfE guidance.
