Bilston CE Primary School's Easter Activities!

While others were taking a break from school and enjoying their chocolate eggs pupils at Bilston C of E were very busy!

School ran an Easter activity club over four days for children for up to 120 attended. Funded by the DFE’s Catch Up Grant, this free club to families enabled children to ‘catch up’ on valuable learning missed during lockdown. Core and foundation subjects were all covered- in a fun and exciting way- all delivered by our own team of dedicated staff.  It operated with all Covid safety measures in place - all children staying in their normal term time year group bubbles. All children received a free hot lunch from school- which they thoroughly enjoyed!

Commonwealth Games 2022

The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham provides a unique opportunity to build some powerful learning by connecting schools around the West Midlands with schools from across the Commonwealth

After much planning Birmingham Education Partnership and the British Council, with great support from the Youth Sports Trust and Birmingham’s Arts / Cultural sector, are inviting you to get involved. Currently we are looking for 60-80 schools to work with artists, sports people and partner schools through next year.

The Commonwealth Connections Project is twinning schools here with those in official development assistance (ODA) eligible Commonwealth countries. The project will create bespoke educational opportunities for young people and their teachers across the Commonwealth to learn together and develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth and its values, thus allowing young people to feel more ownership and ability to shape their communities.

To find out more about the project and register your interest, please download, complete, and return the form to

Registration of Interest deadline: 28th May 2021.

NEW Secondary Curriculum Hubs – Summer 2021

You will be aware that ConnectEd Partnership and the City of Wolverhampton Local Authority are working in partnership to provide support for secondary schools during the Teacher Assessed Grading process for GCSE, AS and A Levels. As requested after the senior leader’s consultation event, we have sought to provide an opportunity for subject leaders to meet together to discuss the process and provide a forum for additional moderation of the range of evidence required  for the TAGs.

Our existing Curriculum Hubs will be used to support this and are listed below, with some dates brought forward so that the TAGs deadline can be met comfortably. This opportunity should not replace the internal moderation planned by individual schools. It is designed to assist with judgements made and present an opportunity to discuss with other colleagues beyond the school to help with grading. This was deemed especially valuable for departments with small numbers of staff or for A level subjects with sole teachers responsible for grading.
In order to plan for the sessions please make sure that you book your place using the links below. All hubs will take place via Teams from 4pm to 5.30pm and meeting invitations will be emailed prior to each curriculum hub.

Back to Swimming!

As a Partnership, swimming and water safety has always been a high priority. With the pandemic meaning we have lost so much time out of the water, we need to make sure we build a programme of work to get all children back into the water safely and confidently.
To ensure we are building a pathway for all and we understand the barriers that are in place, we would be grateful if you could give us some feedback regarding where you are at with your plans to rebuild your swimming offer. Do you have swimming provision back in place? What obstacles are you facing with swimming? What is working? What isn’t working? Do you need extra support from the Partnership? Is your swimming data being tracked and uploaded?
Please help us to help you and ensure that no child is left behind with swimming and water safety.
*Please note - Swimming Teacher Training will be available from September 2021*

        School Sport Premium Funding

You will already be aware, your school is required to publish its School Sport Premium Data online, via your website.

ConnectEd Partnership are once again, offering to work with you and your PE Lead to ensure you are kept up-to-date with what information needs to be published, how to publish this information and what information to include. This will ensure your school is School Sport Premium viable, and more importantly, you are celebrating all of your successes.  In addition, schools can carry forward any under-spends but they must clearly identify amounts and how the funding will be spent. This is also somethings we can also help with.

As a ConnectEd Partnership member, you can access guidance and support on a 1-1 basis to make sure your published data is recorded and available in the correct format on your website.

If you haven't contacted us already and would like guidance and support in compiling and publishing your data then please contact Sam Perks so that we can share the template and arrangements can be made to provide the support you need.  This will be done virtually at the moment.

The Following policies have been reviewed and updated and are now available on the ConnectEd Partnership website:
  • Disciplinary Procedure
  • Leave of Absence for Reasons Other Than Sickness

If your school has bought into LPAAC you should have received these documents via email from Kate Hodgetts.
