From September 2021, the new Early Career Framework will become a statutory entitlement for all new teachers entering the profession.
Induction tutors, mentors and early career teachers (ECTs) will receive development, support and training over two years instead of one. This training will be underpinned by the Early Career Framework (ECF).
The City of Wolverhampton and ConnectEd Partnership will be working in collaboration to offer Appropriate Body Services to all schools.

Should you wish to enrol your new ECTs with the City of Wolverhampton and ConnectEd Partnership please complete the registration forms available on WVES.
First ECT Newsletter
As you will know the City of Wolverhampton Local Authority and ConnectEd Partnership are working together to offer a comprehensive service that covers both Appropriate Body Services and ECF core training. ConnectEd is working in collaboration with one of the six DfE accredited providers, Best Practice Network (BPN), which will allow you access to a DfE fully funded ECT programme delivered locally by senior leaders and specialist expert teachers from our schools.
As we approach the end of the school year we thought it would be useful to remind you that if you have appointed ECTs for September you will need to register them with an Appropriate Body and to let you know what to expect in the next few weeks to prepare for the Early Career Framework programme and Appropriate Body Services from September 2021.
There are three separate steps that you will need to follow to register your ECTs with the Appropriate Body and the ECF Core Training Programme.
Please note that this is a special addition newsletter for headteachers, Induction Tutors and Mentors as they prepare for the Early Career Framework, starting in September
All subsequent newsletters will contain content for ECTs, Induction Tutors and Mentors

Back to Swimming!
As a Partnership, swimming and water safety has always been a high priority. With the pandemic meaning we have lost so much time out of the water, we need to make sure we build a programme of work to get all children back into the water safely and confidently.
WE NEED YOU!
To ensure we are building a pathway for all and we understand the barriers that are in place, we would be grateful if you could give us some feedback regarding where you are at with your plans to rebuild your swimming offer. Do you have swimming provision back in place? What obstacles are you facing with swimming? What is working? What isn’t working? Do you need extra support from the Partnership? Is your swimming data being tracked and uploaded?
Please help us to help you and ensure that no child is left behind with swimming and water safety.
*Please note - Swimming Teacher Training will be available from September 2021*

School Sport Premium Funding
You will already be aware, your school is required to publish its School Sport Premium Data online, via your website.
ConnectEd Partnership are once again, offering to work with you and your PE Lead to ensure you are kept up-to-date with what information needs to be published, how to publish this information and what information to include. This will ensure your school is School Sport Premium viable, and more importantly, you are celebrating all of your successes. In addition, schools can carry forward any under-spends but they must clearly identify amounts and how the funding will be spent. This is also somethings we can also help with.
As a ConnectEd Partnership member, you can access guidance and support on a 1-1 basis to make sure your published data is recorded and available in the correct format on your website.
If you haven't contacted us already and would like guidance and support in compiling and publishing your data then please contact Sam Perks so that we can share the template and arrangements can be made to provide the support you need. This will be done virtually at the moment.

Update on Safeguarding – New Ofsted Handbook
The handbook has been updated and in terms of safeguarding there is now a whole new section on harmful sexual behaviour paragraphs 306 to 310. They will be looking at policies, procedures and data. They will look at how incidents are handled and how and what is taught in the curriculum.
They will expect that schools:
"To assume that sexual harassment, online sexual abuse and sexual violence are happening in and around the school, even when there are no specific reports, and put in place a whole-school approach to address them where incidents are reported, understand how to handle reports of sexual violence and harassment between children, both on and outside school premises, in line with the DfE’s guidance, and train their staff accordingly (including teachers delivering relationships, sex and health education) "
"Where schools do have not adequate processes in place, it is likely that safeguarding will be considered ineffective. This will impact on the leadership and management judgement. Inspectors may also, depending on the circumstances, take this evidence into account when considering personal development and behaviour and attitude judgements (particularly in respect of pastoral support and pupils feeling safe respectively).
