Warstones Primary School
Warstones Primary have won the Gold Award in the School Sunflower Category and also for Best Garden in the Wolverhampton Homes 2021 Garden Competition.
This is the culmination of work that started with key worker children during the first lockdown. Their Senior Lunchtime Supervisor took the children to the old overgrown allotments at the back of the school, and they started clearing them and planting vegetables. This was really successful, and they were able to set up a Give and Share table for parents when the children returned to school so families could just take some school-grown produce if they needed it. Since then, the plot has been renamed as Mr McGregor's Garden and additions have been made, such as projects involving different year groups, creating bird feeders, plant holders, pumpkin and sunflower competitions. Staff members have cleared the old pond, creating a thriving eco system so children can go pond dipping, sown wild flower seeds across old air raid shelters to create a beautiful sanctuary for insects and bees, developed a beautiful woodland walk, and lots more.
From an activity to support children in lockdown, it has grown into a wonderful and exciting outdoor learning opportunity for the whole school.
Phoenix Nursery School
At the ConnectEd Partnership Leadership Conference exhibition, the Kingswood Trust offered a free 'Well Being Day' as a prize for participants. Although Low Hill Nursery School won, they kindly donated the prize to the children of Phoenix Nursery School, recognising the fact that the children from Phoenix Nursery had not had the opportunity to visit the Trust for some years.
The staff would like to thank the ConnectEd Partnership, Kingwood Trust and Low Hill Nursery School for the wonderful experience for the children. For some children of Phoenix Nursery, their parents do not like them to be outdoors in cold weather, and they are wrapped up in pushchairs on the way to and from school. So to see the children connecting with nature, climbing trees, and generally enjoying the outdoors was a wonderful thing. Staff and children sincerely thank you all.
ConnectEd, in partnership with The City of Wolverhampton Council’s Education Services, are pleased to announce that the Primary ECT Portal is now open for applications from ITT students who are due to gain their QTS in Summer 2022.
We would be grateful if you could share the link/image below as widely as possible using your social media platforms and with students who may be on placement in your school and are seeking ECT posts in Wolverhampton from September 2022.
The recruitment process will be similar to last year with interviews taking place via MS Teams during the week commencing 7th March 2022. Further updates and information will be sent to all schools in due course, and we will really appreciate your support once again with the interviews.
In the meantime, we will be actively promoting and marketing the pool to universities, partner organisations and schools to attract and recruit high quality ECTs to work in our schools.
If you are recruiting any ECTs to start in January 2022 you will need to complete the registration process which can be found on our website.
If you choose Option 1 – Funded provider-led programme and you wish to use Best Practice Network for your training provider, please note that their closing date for ECTs starting in January 2022 is 3rd December 2021.
Guidance from Best Practice Network - What schools/ECTs/ECMs need to do:
Schools who have not yet registered with the DfE or BPN, will need to do so and their Induction Tutors will need to input the details of the ECTs and ECMs on the DfE online service. Please follow the links below:
Their ECTs/ECMs will then individually need to register with BPN so that they have the additional details to set them up on Canvas, add them to the appropriate group, and for the DfE to approve them as a viable participant.
Schools who already have ECTs and ECMs registered with BPN will need the Induction Tutor to input their details on the DfE online service and direct their ECTs and ECMs to register with us. New ECTs and ECMs can register with BPN by clicking on this link:
Once they select 'register', a verification email will be issued to verify the account. This is immediate, so the advice is to check spam/junk folders if they do not receive it. After the account has been set-up, they can log into the account here: https://ccms.bpnsystems.net/applications/ (left-hand side of the screen).
As soon as your ECTs/ECMs register, they will receive a notification email and their Canvas login details will follow.

If you have any queries regarding this, please contact Helen Perkins.
. Please ensure you notify the scheme of return to work dates and resignations
Employees receiving occupational maternity pay (twelve weeks at half pay) are required to repay this money if they decide not to return to work. Credits reimbursed to the school for non-returning maternity employees will be repayable to the scheme and to the school. It is the responsibility of the Head teacher to notify the scheme accordingly.
For those schools that do not use WCC payroll provider please continue to submit payroll reports each month. Late submissions will be discounted. (The closing date for submissions for each financial year is the last Friday in April).
Schools who decide not to renew their membership of the scheme will be recharged the full amount of claims offset against the premium paid for each year of membership, along with a leaving administrative fee based on the premium paid for each year of membership. The leaving administrative fee is payable regardless of the reimbursements made.
Please keep Helen Perkins informed of leave, resignation or return to work dates.
In accordance with the terms and conditions, schools will be alerted when their claims reach 100% of their total annual premium. ConnectEd Partnership will not pay schools above their premium paid until the school have confirmed in writing the following year buy in. We have written to those schools that have already reached this level of reimbursements to confirm continued membership of the scheme, so not to delay further reimbursements.
The new contract period is available at fixed rates for three years or two years from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2025 (the new Terms and Conditions are now on our website www.connectedpartnership.com). Please note: If you leave the scheme at the end of the contract period all reimbursements for each contract year over the premium paid will be recharged to the school.
