A message from your VCA President

April 15, 2020
MonaHello everyone.  While I wish this message could be delivered to you in person, it’s obviously not possible right now.  Please rest assured your entire Board of Directors (and committee leaders and participants) have been hard at work to make sure you are kept up to date and supported during this difficult period.  Personally, I am constantly reminding myself of all the things I am grateful for.  The list, thankfully, is quite long and seems endless.
What have you been doing during this pandemic?  I do have more time on my hands and have watched more movies and shows.  Like many of you, I have attended a number of video conferences and discovered the Zoom application.  Every week changes as we learn to live in the NEW normal.  I have shopped at ValuMart, Costco, and Shoppers Drug Mart.  My home gym has had regular use.
During my many walks, I have connected with friends and neighbours and am reminded of how fortunate we are to live here.  Everyone is pleasant, respectful, and thankful to be healthy and safe.
On behalf of your Board of Directors, stay safe, and let us know how we can help.

VCA Assistance during the Pandemic

Mona has a list of HELPERS from The Village.  Please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything!  We have amazing neighbours and this is a great way to bond as a community.  Many local businesses are allowing pick up at the curb or even delivering at no cost to your HOME!  But if you need something and can’t wait, we can help.  Contact Mona

Keep CalmVCA Website

Speaking of helping the community, we have added an additional page to the VCA website with Covid-19 information.

We thought it would be helpful to have the federal, provincial and local information from the town in one place for our residents.  It also lists the services we can provide to our Village neighbours.  Please have a look.

What about the VCA Annual General Meeting?

The one NOT being held April 22..

The VCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been postponed until we can meet again in person. In the meantime, to keep you updated on what’s going on in The Village and our community, we have posted all of the presentations and reports on our website, including the President's Report and Year-end Financials.

VCA Membership Renewal Time

Join nowSpeaking of the AGM – this is the time of year we normally renew our VCA Memberships.  Our membership year ends April 30 each year so we hope you will agree the VCA is a valuable resource in The Village and renew (or Join) at this time.
This can be done on-line!
Fill out the form and e-transfer $30 to the VCA.  This is the annual membership fee per household.   Or drop off a cheque with our Membership Co-ordinator, Randy Churchill at 41 Brock St.

By the way – did you know that only half the residents in The Village are members of the VCA?  Just sayin’

HELPSpeaking of the VCA - we could use some help

We are still short one member of the Executive.  And we can always use some help with various committees.  Can you assist?   All hands appreciated.
We also need a couple more folks (once the isolating is finished) to help with the spring membership drive and letting folks know about the AGM.  If you can assist, please contact us.

constructionConstruction Update from Adam Hawley

Many Village residents received an email update from Adam last week.  In case you missed it, it outlines how the construction on Perez Street is following the Provincial Covid-19 rules.  To read the complete report it is posted on the VCA website in the AGM Reports.

Do you have a new neighbour?

We’d love to welcome them.  Let us know if we have some new residents in The Village.
Please contact us.

Niagara Migrant Workers Interest Group
There was a call out last week to Village residents for some groceries and cleaning supplies for the newly the arriving migrant workers.  Because they are quarantined for the next two weeks they had some meager supplies to get by on until they get paid and can go shopping.   Several Villagers spread the word and collected a generous selection to drop off the Jane Andres who leads the migrant support group.  Thanks to our residents who stepped up to support these vital members of our community – and providing an enjoyable Easter meal for them.
