Christmas Tree Lighting Photos

If you missed the official lighting the Christmas Trees in the Village on November 25 we have some photos.
Thanks to our volunteers led by Dale DesIslets who decorated trees and light stands and herded the reindeer into position.  As well thanks to the VCA Social Committee who provided hot cider and home baked cookies.
About 60 people attended the event, enjoyed a cup of cider and sang some Christmas Carols with the Uksters.

Hope you around Sunday evening, December 23 when the Lumieres are to be lit.  It was beautiful last year!  Hundreds of candles will line our main streets and parks.  These will be lit by those wonderful volunteers again.  Come join your neighbours and walk around the village to see them all.

Perez Closing for winter

Message from John Hawley – in case you missed the email from John.

road closedDear Villagers,

I hope this email finds you warm and dry!
Last year we closed off Perez Street from Rampart to Niven because the Town will not plough snow off streets that do not have houses built on them. Once again we will be barricading this section of Perez Street for the winter season. It will be not be available to public traffic until the snow season is over in the spring.

Construction in Phase 4 is moving along, and we've recently had our first Moseby Street residents move in!  A reminder that trespassing in and around the homes under construction in Phase 4 is not permitted and very dangerous. While we don't fault anyone for their curiosity, we do worry about their safety and the safety of the trades working on site. If anyone were injured it could seriously compromise our builder DF Design Build.

We've also noticed on a couple of occasions the construction garbage bins being used as a place to dump non-construction related garbage. This goes without saying, but a reminder that these bins are strictly for the construction trades working for DF Design Build and not for public use.

Regards,

Volunteers

We still need volunteers to assist the VCA with some Committee work.  (I know – not as much fun as stringing hundreds of lights – but warmer!)

Four priorities were identified from the Resident survey in October:
  • Future Village commercial development
  • Parking
  • Speeding
  • Traffic on Garrison
In order to move the files forward we need a few volunteers to assist.
If you have a few hours a month to dedicate to these important causes, please contact Mona Babin at mtmbabin@gmail.com

Collection for the Collectors

collectionYou may remember the Village does a collection for the Garbage collectors each Christmas.  (Last newsletter..

As a guideline we have suggested a $20 donation per household, although you are welcome to donate any amount you wish.  Please drop your contribution off at the home of Jane Chapell, 82 Garrison Village Dr., or Carol Fraser, 12 Blackbird St. by December 16.
You will be making our three collectors and their families VERY happy !
