The following is a message sent out by John Hawley today after considering the public input received at the meeting on August 7
Many of our residents attended with concerns on the proposed development plans. 

We are again sending John's message to our VCA mailing list to ensure members of the Village community are up-to-date.

Dear Residents, 

It was great to see over 200 of you at the meeting on Tuesday night. We’ve copied a link to the presentation below (the link also allows you to access the videos from Andrés Duany)**. Some extra notes have been added to provide context to the images and plans. If you have further questions or concerns don’t hesitate to let us know. 

In addition to using Tuesday's presentation to address all of the concerns we had been made aware of, we would like to let you know that on Monday at the Committee of the Whole meeting we will be informing Council that we are prepared to make two changes to our application:
 
  1. To reduce our request from 55.8’ to 49’11” for the maximum permitted height of the Hotel and Assembly Hall 
  2. To place a cap on the number of hotel rooms at 60

Although our experts strongly recommended a range of 60 to 80 for the number of rooms, to address concerns over hotel size we are prepared to assume the risk of capping that at 60. We hope these changes will address the concerns you have raised with us. 

A significant number of residents have advised us of their support for our plans and many residents expressed to us after the meeting that they would not have signed the petition had they heard the information provided at the meeting. If you signed the petition but have reconsidered your position, we ask that you would let those presenting the petition to Council know, as we’d like Council to have an accurate representation.
