Message from Mona Babin - Acting President

Happy new year!  May health, joy, and success be abundant in The Village in 2019.

Over the last few months, several residents have been busy working on different committees on behalf of The Village residents. Each team leader will provide an update at the Annual General Meeting.  Here’s an overview:

  1. Village round table (Mike Siverns):  A group of residents have met to discuss how we can share knowledge, and work together more efficiently.
  2. Christmas decorating (Dale DesIslets):  30 volunteers spent 120 hours decorating 65 trees, 23 lampposts, and 14 deer. More than 16,000 lights shined over The Village! An additional 250 lumières bags with candles were set out along parkways on December 23.  The Village never looked more festive!
  3. Speeding in The Village (Dale DesIslets):  Dale is working on a plan to make our neighbourhood safer.
  4. The Village future development (Mona Babin):  As news is available on this hot topic, we will keep you informed.
  5. Constitution and rules & regulations (Mona Babin):  Current governance is being revised, and a recommendation will be put forward at the AGM.
  6. Social committee (a team of 5 residents):  After a successful Christmas party, the team is working on a number of events for 2019.
  7. Membership (Randy Churchill):  Almost 50% of The Village residents are members of the VCA.  Randy will reach out to you to let you know how you can help with membership.

Help!WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  Do you have passion and a little bit of time to dedicate to making The Village an even more AMAGING place to live and play?  We could use your expertise with:
  1. Fall dog show:  help out or lead the team
  2. Nominating committee:  source and interview candidates for the 2019-2020 VCA board
  3. Board member:  become a VCA Board Member and help shape the future

See you around The Village!!!

Mona

Membership

Area Captains needed to assist with VCA membership

mapDo you want to see the VCA membership grow in 2019?  How about volunteering to be a street/area Captain?

Currently almost half the homes in The Village are VCA members.  Since we work for everyone in The Village, we’d like as many resident as possible to support the Association.

Randy Churchill, our Membership Coordinator, is looking for 8-12 volunteers to represent their street or area (depending on how many volunteer).

What we need your to help with:

Deliver a flyer to the homes in your street or area
In April, there will be a membership drive.  Each Captain will be responsible for delivering a flyer to all the homes in his/her area or street.

Follow-up
Ensure current VCA members renew prior to the April AGM, and outline benefits of membership to potential members.

Please contact Randy if you can assist. (randmchurchill@gmail.com)

A meeting of all Captains will be held late March/early April.  Flyers will be ready for distribution, and benefits of VCA membership information will be provided.

Thanks!

Christmas Lights – Done for another year.

They are coming down this coming week.
Thank you to Dale Desislets and his cheery band of elves – with ladders – who helped make The Village look so festive again this year.

By the way – did you know The Village Christmas light projects have been supported since 2012 by the VCA – and so many of our wonderful volunteers?

If you missed the beautiful lumières December 23 – here’s a couple of photos.  They stayed lit for hours!  It was lovely to walk around the streets to enjoy them.
