Annual General Meeting held October 14

Thank you to all of our members that joined us to hold a successful Annual General Meeting (AGM).  As you know our AGM was postponed from the April date and we really couldn’t move forward without the approval of membership.  We had to “finish” the year and report the actions and results of the Executive and Committee activities from April 2019 to April 2020.  In addition we had some revisions to the Constitution and selected Bylaws – requiring the approval of the membership.
A good time had by all!  We are all Zoom experts now!
If you missed it the results are now posted on the VCA Website for your review.

All of the documents for the preparation of the meeting are still posted on the VCA website as well if you wish to review them.

New Projects

New ProjectsIn reviewing the Proposed Minutes from the AGM you will see there are several New Business projects brought to the table.
  • Entrance identifier for “The Village” community at Niagara Stone Road and Garrison Village Drive
  • Remembrance for Liz Hawley
  • Little Libraries (see below)
These projects will be researched by members of the community.  Please contact us if you would like to participate or have suggestions for these activities.

New Executive Members

Another piece of business successfully completed at the AGM was the election of new members of the Executive Committee.
Joe Allevato was confirmed as Treasurer after being appointed earlier this year to fill a vacant role.
And the newest member of the Executive is Ardeth Staz as Vice President.  We are delighted to have these roles on the Executive filled and thank them for stepping up.

And Guess What?  We have to do it again!

Our bylaws call for two meetings a year to keep our members informed.

So save the Date – Wednesday, November 18 at 7 pm

Location – your computer!  We will be Zooming again.
This will be a business meeting to report the activities and updates on the projects of the VCA from April 2020 to November 2020.

We hope you will join us again to “Take care of business”.

Little Libraries

libraryHave you got the tools, the talent and the time to build one of these?
The VCA is developing a proposal to put Little Libraries at each of our 2 Post Box locations in the Village.

What is a Little Library, you might ask? It’s a free book exchange ‘box’ - anyone may take a book and add a book to share. It works on an honour system - you don’t need to share a book at the same time as you take one!

This system seems to fit with our Village’s sense of community. We would like to install Little Libraries before the ground freezes - just in time to help us all get through this winter at home!

We need your help! It would be great if the Libraries were made by someone who lives in the Village.  We also need donations of materials or money to pay for materials.

If you can help, or would like more information, please contact Ardeth Staz at Ardeth.staz@gmail.com or 905-964-4660
Thanks!
Ardeth Staz,
Vice President, VCA

Message from John Hawley – October 24

Good Morning Villagers,

You may have noticed that there are signs posted on the Village Centre Lands indicating an application has been made to the Committee of Adjustment. This is an application to create several different land parcels in the Village Centre to allow us to proceed with the various components of the Centre. If you'd like further information please call either myself or Adam.

Regards,

Halloween in The Village!

If you weren't out last night - you missed some questionable activities in The Village!  There was a spooky house on GVD with a couple of zombies trying to lure in unsuspecting passersby with a basket of treats!
