The Village Community Association (VCA) Dog Show Committee would like to extend a huge thank you to The Village residents who supported the 2nd Annual Charity Village Dog Show held on Sunday, September 17th at the Marketplace in aid of the Niagara Falls Humane Society.
Approximately 35 dogs participated in a number of fun categories such as “loveable well behaved”, “loveable not so well behaved”, “costume/look alike”, “best trick” and the “senior” category, (dogs no people).
The judges included Diane Shaw from Grape Escapes, Jill Anderson and Tracey Lunn, members from the Niagara Falls Humane Society Board, and our own councillor, Betty Disero.
This year we had approximately 140 silent auction items that ranged from gourmet dinners, wine baskets, helicopter tours, numerous gift certificates from spas and ladies wear stores, dog related items, and home decor.
One of the most popular attractions was Lord Mayor Pat Darte’s horses who made an appearance for rides and photo ops.
The Niagara-on-the-Lake community falls under the Niagara Falls Humane Society service area. Due to the generosity of our wonderful corporate and individual sponsors, vendors and donors, we were able to exceed the amount of last year’s donation of $11,000.00 to the Niagara Falls Humane Society. This year we will be presenting a cheque in the amount of $20,100.00 to assist with desperately needed kennel renovations and the ongoing care and treatment of animals.
The committee and all of our wonderful volunteers worked extremely hard to achieve this goal but the NFHS is in dire need of help. We are so pleased as a community organization that we can assist NFHS with this donation. Again thank you to all who participated in our picture perfect dog show day and all of those who contributed to reach this goal.
