Come join your neighbours and walk around the village to see them all.
Date:  Sunday, December 23
Time:  Around 5:30
Place: Along the sidewalks of the Village parks on Garrison Village Drive, plus the park at Macdonell and Norton, as well as the path along Niagara Stone Road.

Message from Mona Babin,
Acting President, VCA

If time flies when you’re having fun, then I guess 2018 was a blast!!!
As the year comes to an end, I would like to update you on the projects the VCA board members and committee leaders will be working on in the first 4 months of 2019:
  1. Develop a membership drive
  2. Continue to meet with representatives from the condominium and laneway associations to provide a forum for dialogue between the various areas of The Village
  3. Study and recommend solutions to improve safety (ie slow down traffic) on Brock Street and Garrison Village Drive
  4. Update our rules/regulations and constitution
  5. Keep you up to date on the future Village development
  6. Recruit members for the 2019 board
  7. Prepare for our Annual General Meeting
On behalf of the VCA board, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a great holiday season.  May your 2019 be healthy, peaceful, and filled with opportunities to create new friendships. Merry Christmas

Christmas Party Past

Did you miss the Christmas party on December 14?  In that case – you missed a lovely evening arranged by the VCA Social Committee.  Thank you ladies for all you hard work!

The Village Christmas Party was, once again, a wonderful success.  Eighty eight guests mingled and visited with neighbors and friends under the beautiful dome of the NOTL Courthouse.  We were treated to delicious finger food provided by Gooddine Catering and wines from local vineyards.  The room glowed with illuminated wine bottles and the centre buffet table looked amazing in white twigs, pink ornaments and evergreens.

It was a wonderful opportunity to wish all our villagers and friends a happy holiday season as we look forward to another year in the Village of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Thanks from Jane Chapell to those who contributed to the collection for our garbage collectors.

Our three regular garbage collectors were each presented with envelopes containing the money contributed during our annual Christmas Tip campaign on Monday, December 17.  As in past years, they were most appreciative and asked us to pass along their sincere thanks and best wishes to all involved.  $20 per participating household seems a small amount to divide between three people for a year of service, but when combined it becomes significant and can make a real difference to these individuals at this time of year.
There were a number of different laneway groups and individual households participating in this campaign for 2018.  While we don't have numbers for each group, it appears that over $1500 was collected in total, so each of the garbage collectors received at least $500 from residents in The Village.
Our thanks go out to all who participated in this campaign ... as volunteers and as donors ... to acknowledge the important service these workers provide for us each week.
Best wishes to all Village residents for a joyful Christmas and a happy and healthy 2019.

And speaking of Garbage collection over the holidays…

Below is a link to the Niagara Region garbage collection information about collection over the holidays.
  • In the Village, since our usual collection day is Monday – our schedule doesn’t change
  • Note we are allowed one additional bag of garbage the week following Christmas.
  • Christmas tree collection is on our regular collection day during the week of Jan. 7-11, 2019.
Here’s the Regional Waste Collection page with further info.
