LYNN’S LIST FOR JANUARY 16, 2023

Happy New Year! It’s been a while since we’ve distributed a list. The Georgia Legislative Session was delayed for a week because UGA was in the National Championship game. They are back in session, assigning committees and office space. Our state advocacy begins soon.

To start off the year, let’s let our US Senators and Representatives know what priorities we want them to be working on based on our core principles.

Contact Senators Ossoff and Warnock with the suggested script:  My name is —- and I am from —--. I’m calling (emailing) because I want the Senator to know what my priorities are as the new session begins and I want to make sure that he will pursue these priorities as well. I want continued solutions on climate and gun violence. I want the Senator to support better and more affordable healthcare with a focus on reproductive rights. I want comprehensive immigration reform and for asylum seekers to be treated with dignity and compassion. I want voting rights to be expanded. I want quality public education that includes civics and does not whitewash our history. I want all Americans, especially the wealthy, to pay their fair share of taxes.

I’m calling (emailing) because I want the Congressman to know what my priorities are as the new session begins and I want to make sure that he will pursue these priorities as well. I want continued solutions on climate and gun violence. I want the Congressman to support better and more affordable healthcare with a focus on reproductive rights. I want comprehensive immigration reform and for asylum seekers to be treated with dignity and compassion. I want voting rights to be expanded. I want quality public education that includes civics and does not whitewash our history. I want all Americans, especially the wealthy, to pay their fair share of taxes. What I DON’T want is wasting time and squandering taxpayer dollars on divisive theatrics and endless investigations. 

As always, it’s a marathon and not a sprint.
