Alberta Sexual Assault Course and Conference – April 4, 2020
This course is designed to share core training and a management update for urban and rural healthcare professionals on sexual assault. Topics covered will include sexual assault forensic kits, trauma informed care, chronic pelvic pain, male and transgender sexual health, sexually transmitted infections, strangulation and human trafficking. Mainpro+ credits are available for attendees.

MAiD2020 – Fourth Annual National Conference on Medical Assistance in Dying
Building on the success of previous annual national conferences, CAMAP will host MAiD2020 in Toronto, from May 1-2, 2020. You can expect updates on clinically relevant topics and ample time for discussion and networking. Pre and post-conference workshops will take place on April 30 and May 3, respectively.

Let’s Talk Physician Suicide Podcast
Physicians are at a greater risk for death by suicide than the general population. Let’s help reduce the stigma associated with seeking help in the profession. Dr. Debrah Wirtzfeld, Associate Chief Medical Officer of Physician Health, Diversity, and Wellness at Alberta Health Services, and Dr. Jane Lemaire, Physician Lead for Well Doc Alberta, hosted a chat with Dr. Michael F. Myers of SUNY-Downstate Medical Centre in Brooklyn, NY.

Human Factors in Healthcare – Accredited Multi-day Course
The W21C Research and Innovation Centre at the U of C, in collaboration with the HQCA, offers a course about the role of Human Factors in Healthcare, including how to conduct evaluations of human error, icons and labels, digital interfaces, equipment procurement, healthcare processes and physical environments. Participants will have opportunities to apply their knowledge through course modules, covering case studies and methodologies in various clinical areas. Calgary registration has passed; Edmonton dates are March 2, 3 & 4.

Alberta Justice is Recruiting a Psychiatrist to the Alberta Review Board
The Alberta Review Board makes and reviews dispositions concerning accused persons for whom a verdict of “not criminally responsible” or “unfit to stand trial” because of mental disorder is rendered. Positions on this board are open to psychiatrist members only. Psychiatrists will be paid $790 for up to four hours and $197 for each additional hour.

St Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association (SASHA) National Palliative Care Week Events on Monday, May 4, 2020
Join counsellor, author and public speaker Mr. David Maginley for two events in the greater Edmonton area:
  • Compassion Fatigue: The Cholesterol of Care (12 – 1 p.m. at the Glenrose Hospital Auditorium) will teach attendees how to best care for themselves when caring for others, explore how to become a warrior of compassion and share strategies to mitigate vicious trauma and rediscover your passion for patient care.   • Unpacking for the Journey (7 p.m. at the Arden Theatre) will help attendees explore how practical and spiritual preparation helps one face their mortality through end-of-life planning and learning about steps that will heal the heart. Purchase tickets at the door or online.
