NEWSLETTER

welcome
Welcome to the ARTS HIGH SCHOOL newsletter! Here you will find celebrations, school-wide announcements, notes, and dates to remember. This newsletter emerged from conversations with Perpich Parents, eager for more avenues in which information is shared.  I'm excited for its possibilities! Thank you for continuing to push our practices as a school, making sure our systems are working to meet the needs of our stakeholders, and ensuring ALL voices are being heard. It's an honor to serve the Perpich community, I truly believe that together we will champion the mission and vision of Perpich, reinvent our selves in the process, and come out as innovative and impactful as ever.

a note about inclusion @ perpich

Perpich is enriched every single day by students and faculty from diverse backgrounds without regard to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identification, sexual orientation, disability, geographic region, national origin, or immigration status. I would like to reiterate that Perpich places tremendous value on equity and inclusion; it is inherent in who we are as a community and it’s imperative that our community provides a learning environment that honors all voices and works through conflict together. Perpich faculty and staff are committed to ensuring that every student here knows he, she, or they are valued and respected and that this environment is free from fear, violence, and intimidation. If you or your family are impacted and in need of support with regards to national policy changes, please reach out for support. This is not a matter of politics but rather a matter of equity and inclusion. We will continue to embrace all members of our community and speak truth to light through our artistry. Thank you for being a part of our community.

RACE FOR JUSTICE DAY
CALL FOR PRESENTERS
Students at Perpich are planning a social justice awareness day for April 13th. If you are affiliated with organizations or presenters that would be interested in supporting this event please reach out to Principal Silkey-Jones.

AGENCY TRANSITION
BOARD LEADERSHIP AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TRANSITION
As Perpich navigates a transition in leadership an Interim Executive Director will be appointed by the Governing Board. A search for a new Executive Director will take place this spring. The board hopes to have a new ED in place by July 1, at which time Perpich will enter an intensive strategic planning process. All stakeholders will be included in both the Executive Director search as well as the strategic planning process.

GLOBAL EDUCATION
WE'RE GOING TO PARIS!
This year Perpich has hosted exchange students from China and France and will be sending a group of French students to Paris, France over spring break. In 2018 Perpich plans to send students to both France and Cuba on exchange initiatives. We endeavor to develop global citizens at Perpich and hope all students will participate in some form of global exchange as either a host, shadow, or participant during their time at Perpich.

COLLEGE BOUND
ACCEPTANCES FOR CLASS OF 2017
76% of seniors have been accepted to college thus far! We're striving for 100%! Seniors keep applying (and sharing!) your post-secondary plans. A few highlights from the class of 2017 so far:  Perpich students have been admitted to University of the Arts, Cornish College of the Arts, Minnesota College of Art and Design, Columbia College, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Savannah College of Art and Design. Many students have also been awarded full and partial scholarships related to both arts and academic accomplishments. We look forward to celebrating more college acceptances and scholarships in the coming months!
