This week we welcomed Peg Birk to our community as our Interim Executive Director. She comes to us with a wealth of experience and we are excited to have her here! “I am delighted and honored to accept this appointment and look forward to working with the board, staff and stakeholders during this important transition,” Birk said.  “I anticipate and will welcome feedback from parents, staff, alumni and legislators as we proceed with needed changes and new direction," she said. “Perpich Center for Arts Education is a nationally-known state treasure that has provided significant value to students and educators throughout Minnesota during its 32 years and I look forward to helping the board and staff improve its effectiveness and impact.”

Wilson Webb, visited the media students for an afternoon of lighting last week. Wilson shared his master lighting knowledge and insights with students through an overview of lighting terms, techniques and analyzing of images from films he has worked on. In preparation, students viewed The Coen Brothers film, "True Grit." They were then able to ask Wilson, the still photographer for the film, how the lighting was achieved. Students also brought in their favorite stills and Wilson guided them through how to evaluate the image and map out how it was lit. It was a rich learning experience.

Perpich grads gathered in the Visitors Center on 2.16 from 4p.m.-6p.m. They met the new Interim Executive Director, enjoyed connecting with alums and former teachers, and toured the dorms. If you couldn't make this alumni event be sure to join us for the next one on
April 27th at 4p.m.

Testing is upon us! This spring Perpich students will take AP Exams, ACT, and MCA's. It's imperative that as a school we embrace these exams and demonstrate our highest level of proficiency. In particular, the school utilizes the results of our ACT and MCA exams to evaluate our practices and ensure we are providing support in the right areas to prepare our students for college. Although only one piece of the puzzle, student participation in these exams is crucial to ensuring we have a snapshot of their proficiency in math, English, reading, and science, so we can continue to serve them better.
