Tampa Bay Alumnae Chapter
Winter 2021 Newsletter
In December 2020, the holiday spirit and festivities were still in full swing as we met together over Zoom showing off our ugly sweaters and spreading cheer with our sisters!
Happy New Year Sisters!
What a year! I think we can all agree 2020 was rough, but I also think it has shown us that we are more resilient than we think. We have faced major changes; we have adapted and that is something to be proud of. I’m excited to see what this year holds for our community and the world.
While some of us may be returning to the workplace, many of us are still remote. Whatever your situation may be, I encourage you all to take some time for your mental and physical well-being. After all, our health is a precious thing. Don’t be afraid to say no and take the necessary time to help yourself. Unmanaged stress can manifest itself in many ways, so check-in with yourself every once in a while, and see how you’re doing.
I hope that we are in a better place to host events in-person later this year, but only time will tell. In the meantime, we will continue to host some virtual events during the spring. Over the holiday season, I held a Virtual Friendsgiving with some friends and we had a great time. We all ate dinner together and it sort of felt like our own version of “Keeping up with the Kardashians”. We hadn’t seen each other for months, so there was a lot to catch up on. If anyone has any suggestions for virtual events, we’d love to hear your ideas. Please feel free to email me.
Shifting gears...One thing, I have learned about myself, is that I enjoy being outdoors. Before the pandemic, I never referred to myself as “outdoorsy” unless we were at the beach. I love getting fresh air, the feeling of the sun on my skin. I’ve been getting my steps in while allowing myself to decompress and unwind. If you would like to share something you have learned about yourself or overcame in the past year, here is a link to a survey form.
We will be posting your submissions on our Facebook and Instagram stories on Feb 4th, 2021. On the form, you can include if you would like your name attached to the post or if you would like to remain anonymous.

TBAC Sister Update
Best wishes to Officer (and our sister) Lesa Phillips, whose recently ended her time at the Clearwater Police Department after more than 17 years of service there! Lesa has served on the bike team, the hostage negotiator team, and also did a stint as a homicide detective. She also was always a friend to the four-legged members of the community. Good luck in your next chapter of life!
