Tampa Bay Alumnae Chapter • Spring 2020 Newsletter
We kicked off the new year and decade with a delicious brunch and time to bond with our sisters. We are looking forward to many fun and memorable events this year!
President's Message
Dear Sisters,
It's the year 2020. I don't know about you, but that number still seems surreal to me. Where are the flying cars? At this rate, let's forgo the flying cars and opt for teleportation. I could use the extra time. The commute is getting crazier by the day!
Speaking of time, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the time and participation you have devoted to Sigma Kappa. Whether you attend one event a year or contribute several hours a week to volunteer activities, I appreciate the devotion you show to our sisterhood. You choose to spend your time with us when I know that you have competing priorities. That's one of the beauties of life as an alumna member. You can dial your involvement up or down as you see fit.
If you would like to get more involved, please let me know. You can serve on an advisory board for our paired sister chapters at University of South Florida or University of Tampa. Additionally, we will be having officer elections for the Alumnae Chapter this summer. We will have at least one vacancy, and will send out an interest form closer to that time. We have several events planned this spring. We also have Sigma Kappa Convention coming up in June in Tucson, Arizona!
Whatever your level of involvement, know that we appreciate you and are glad you are a part of Sigma Kappa.
LISK,
Michelle Bombaugh
Congratulations to Our Alumna December Graduates!
Melissa Kurtz received her MS in Business Analytics / Information Systems from the University of South Florida.
Debbie Bogovic (middle person) received her MBA from the University of Tampa.

Philanthropy and Service Update
As we move through our Florida Winter into Spring, we have a few exciting updates!

2. We will be creating our Exam Goodie Bags for the UT and USF Chapters this Spring. These have been a fantastic fundraiser for the foundation, and we are excited to assemble the bags again this year.
3. We will be hosting a Kendra Scott Give Back Night on April 30th from 5-7 pm. We receive a percentage of the sales during this 2 hour block, and call in orders are accepted!
Scholarship Fundraiser Update
In November, we provided two $200 scholarships to a member of Lambda Zeta and Lambda Theta collegiate chapters. We had a strong applicant pool and enjoyed reading the personal statements of how the applicants live by the Sigma Kappa values of personal growth, loyalty, friendship, and service through their involvement in and outside of the sorority.
We have already began fundraising to provide the same scholarships again at the Founders Day Celebration in 2020. During our Holiday Brunch Party, we raffled off 5 gift baskets filled with beauty products, home good items, wine, and accessories. We raised $360, and want to thank you all who attended the event and participated in the raffle. Providing these scholarships supports the selected sisters as they work hard to earn their college degrees and live through our mystic bond!
