Two sister vessels were undergoing a planned overhaul at a shipyard in Europe, and MarineShaft repaired the CPP hubs, which we received in our workshop in Hirtshals.
The seal areas on the propeller hub needed repair due to wear, and we applied 2 layers of bronze material, each layer of 0.8 mm.
Machining after laser cladding is always necessary.
Along with the 2 hubs we had received 8 new bearing bushes. The inner diameter of the bush was machined to final dimension and the hub and bush were fitted before returning the parts to the shipyard to complete the overhaul.
Whether you need a subcontractor to participate partly in your repair job or to take care of the entire overhaul/repair, I hope you will keep our services in mind.
Repair advantages of using laser cladding for hub repairs are:
100% binding of the bronze material to the base material.
Because laser cladding leaves a minimum of heat input, it does not disrupt the base material.
