Dear Parents / Caregivers,

As advised in my update last week, we have reviewed our current situation and decided that for the remainder of this week all Senior Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 will be offsite, accessing teaching and learning material via Google Classroom for the next four days - Tuesday 8th March to Friday 11th March inclusive.

Classroom teachers will continue to post suitable material online for the students to access during the day.  Students are not expected to be online at the time that the lessons are timetabled, but to access their classwork during the day.

Normal schooling will continue for Year 9 and 10 students with the primary mode of learning face to face.  This method of delivery will be complemented with material posted online via Google Classroom to support Juniors unable to attend school for a range of reasons.  We expect all Year 9 and 10 students to be at school if they are well and able to attend.

Buses will run as normal and the college Canteen will remain open.

This arrangement is the only way we can continue to operate some level of face to face schooling for students whilst also provide online learning for our seniors.  Today we have a significant portion of our teaching staff offsite, either isolating as they are household contacts or positive with Covid-19.  Some are returning onsite after isolation however the number needing isolation is increasing at a faster rate.

We will continue to review this approach daily, hopeful that we will reach a 'peak' in the near future and soon return to normal schooling with all students on site.

I assure you we continue to prioritise the health and safety of your son and follow the protocols required under Phase 3 of the RED setting of the Covid Protection Framework.  Please continue to support your son in this regard and follow all requirements regarding testing if symptomatic, self isolating if a household contact or if tested positive.

The latest COVID-19 information regarding testing and self-isolation can be found via this link

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.  We continue to focus on the wellbeing of our students and staff whilst providing a teaching and learning programme to meet the needs of our boys.

Ngā mihi nui
