Developing an Action Plan for Summer

Please join us March 22nd at 1:00E/12:00C for the fourth and final session of this year's Partner Learning Series sponsored by Save the Children. Webinar info will be posted to the KYOSA News page closer to date.  This session has been approved for ECE-TRIS hours.

The National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) believes programs and communities should strive to continuously improve their summer learning programs by implementing a four-part annual quality improvement cycle. During this webinar we will discuss why this is important, what it entails, and how you can begin to develop your own action plan for summer. Leslie Gabay-Swanston is the Director of Program and Systems Quality at NSLA. She is responsible for translating NSLA’s strategic priorities into services, projects, and partnerships that strengthen summer learning programs and build capacity for providers, intermediaries, and communities.

Rural College Access and Success Summit

The 2018 Rural College Access and Success Summit will bring together teachers, principals, superintendents, legislators, non-profit leaders and many others to share ideas and strategies for ensuring that rural youth have the opportunity to successfully transition from high school to college and to career. During the Summit, GEAR UP programs and other college access and success programs that serve rural America will share best practices and highlight the unique challenges of increasing opportunity in rural America.  This year's summit will be held May 13th-15th in Lexington, KY.  See flyer for more information.

The Power of Opposites Applied to Afterschool

At the heart of creative leadership is the ability to see and bring together opposites. Download this free eBook from NAA18 keynote speaker Chic Thompson, to learn more about the key principles of opposite thinking essential to creative leadership and to take the “What Would I Never Do?" Afterschool Challenge.

Pin of the Month

Our friends at the National Afterschool Association have pinned some fantastic STEM games that make inquiry-based STEM programming fun and engaging.  These games are good for all ages and can easily be adapted for skill and ability.  Our personal favorite?  Mystery STEM!
