Later Is Now, Again.

Notes on reviving a painting practice

New Work

After my February series of paintings, I needed to shake the snow off and paint something new. I went all over the place with the above paintings, in subject and size. I'm just like spring in Chicago--can't make up my mind.

Yes, Chicago did get snow yesterday, and that made some people cry. But today the sun shines, and I point you to the beach with the paintings I'm working on now. Stay strong, Chicago.

Above: Pink Bunny, 14 x 11 in. $200; Cortland Avenue Bridge, 18 x 25 in. $500; Engine 56, 12 x 16 in. $250. Below: Fat Guy and a Soccer Ball, 10 x 20 in. $350

On the Easel

Another beach painting along the lakefront. This one is 22 x 28, oil on canvas. You can see all of my attempts at placing the secondary figures. I think I've got it now, but I always surprise myself by the end.

Save the Dates: September 14 + 15

I'll be showing my work at the Lakeview East Festival of Arts in Chicago. This fair has a juried selection of artists, and I'm excited to see how the crowd compares with the Ravenswood fair I did last year. Chicago and its suburbs host so many art/craft festivals, and this one is very near my home and seems to draw a fine-art-loving crowd. Those are the two important criteria I look for these days. When I drive a Suburban and have a storage unit, I may expand my reach.
