Upcoming Events At A Glance...

Happy New Year

The secular calendar is about to turn over into 2019 - Happy New Year! Temple Israel will be closed on New Year's Day, January 1. We will be open the following Thursday, January 3, and will return to our regular schedule of Tuesday & Thursday, 10-2, the following week.

Sing-A-Long Shabbat

The first Shabbat of 2019 on January 4 will be a First Friday Sing-A-Long Shabbat Dinner. The women-led Shabbat Shira chorus will convene to practice songs for the upcoming Shabbat Shira service.  All genders are welcome on January 4 to learn and sing songs together.

This will be a Pot-Luck, with the temple providing kiddush, bread and one main dish. Thanks for your contributions. If you can help with set up or wash up, please let Rabbi Andrea know - rabbi@templeisraelgreenfield.org

Refugee Support Committee seeks support for local family

Our tradition teaches that to save a life saves a whole world. The Refugee Support Project has received this message from The Franklin County Peoples Fund:
We are reaching out to request money for a local family that recently fell into debt paying to get their child released from the shelter where he was held at the border and united with them here.  The FC Peoples Fund is helping them to repay that debt and ease their transition.  We need your help to raise $2000 for this family.
The discussion at our last meeting focused on the internment of teenage refugees in Texas. This gives an opportunity to help a child at the border and a family in our community.

To support this family:
Checks can be sent to: Community Action Fiscal Dept. 393 Main St, Greenfield MA 01301.  Make checks out to: CA Franklin County Peoples Fund
Online donations, use Venmo at Peoples-Fund

If you'd like to support the ongoing work of our Refugee Support Project, send a check to Temple Israel and write "refugee support "in the memo line.
