We knew they would come. We knew that the haters would burst in, angry and hell-bent, and cause carnage. We did not have the luxury of thinking "It can't happen here." Or "It can't happen to us." We may not have said it out loud. We did not want to give energy to the horrible thought. But we knew they would come and shatter any sense of safety; shattering any sense of hope, like an AK-15 bullet passing thru flesh and bone. We are devastated. We are shocked.

The unique and universal events in Pittsburgh, did not just happen to we Jews. It happened to the hopes of many people. It continues the harm of our national dialogue.

But we knew YOU would come, too. The phone calls and flowers. The hand-written notes and candles. The ministers and imams and nuns who write to us from around the state and the nation. The anguished messages of "What can we do to help you?"

Shabbat Shalom

Temple Israel is hosting a family-friendly Shabbat dinner this Friday, Nov 2, at 6 PM. You are invited for a simple nourishing meal, plus songs, blessings, and community. RSVP appreciated. 

Teen Group Phone Banking

TI's Teen Group has reconvened under the leadership of our new Teen Coordinator, Zora Berman. Our enthusiastic teens decided that their first project will be to focus on the vital Yes on 3 campaign, working to ensure that public accommodations and protections remain the law for Transgender individuals all over the state of Massachusetts. 

Teens are invited to join us at the synagogue This Thursday, November 1 at 6:30 to phone bank for this cause. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP so we can be sure to have enough snacks. If you or someone you know would like to be added to the teen group email list, please let us know!

Don White

Songwriter & storyteller Don White will return to Temple Israel on Saturday, November 10! He'll make you laugh, cry, and everything in between - join us for a fun fundraising concert that is sure to entertain. Doors open at 6:30, concert at 7pm.
