As part of a nationwide effort to combat voter suppression and fight for racial justice, the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (JALSA) has partnered with Reclaim Our Vote to write postcards to voters of color in several Southern States. Reclaim Our Vote is a joint venture of the Center for Common Ground and the NAACP that seeks to deepen the engagement of People of Color in the political process. Temple Israel is excited to partner with JALSA in this important initiative to protect and enhance our democracy.
Volunteers are asked to hand write postcards to mostly rural, often older voters of color who have been de-registered in states engaging in voter suppression tactics. These voters are likely unaware of this situation. We alert them and offer ways to check their status and re-register or start the re-registration process.
If you are interested in participating in this initiative, please fill out the Google form to sign up. We will provide you with materials for 30 postcards. Please write and send your postcards within 2 weeks of picking them up. If you would like to donate to the cost of materials, there will be the opportunity to do so on the form, or follow this link to Temple Israel’s online donation page.
