My heart is broken and I am afraid.

A woman came in today to ask me questions that I ask myself. How are you keeping your spirits up? What do you think we are facing? What should we be doing about this? The "this" is the slide into dangerous conditions for Jews and other minorities. The "this" is the deteriorating conditions of life itself on this beleaguered planet.

Mark Your Calendars: Monday, June 10, 10 AM: This final day of Shavuot, we'll meet for the holiday service, which includes Yizkor, the service of recalling are deceased beloveds. Please help us make the minyan for this important service.

Followed by seasonal foods for kiddush (i.e. dairy themed foods).

If you have "some Hebrew" be brave and come to this two session class to learn some of the secrets of Hebrew verb forms. Once you learn them, you are going to feel to powerful and informed! Free for members; suggested donation of $10 per class for not-yet-members.

Night-bloomers are sure to rejoice as this year’s Downtown Greenfield Bee Festival buzzes on into the night. The party kicks-off at 8:00 with Greenfield’s own Ilene Stahl, clarinetist, and the return of her Boston- based band, Klezperanto, followed by horn-driven 60s garage band, The Feldons.  Doors open at 7:00 with Peace and Rhythm spinning vintage vinyl while The Brass Buckle serves up comfort food, Tex-Minsk style.  
Tickets $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

Thursday, May 30 (Rain Date June 6), 8AM-4PM: Build Community Labyrinth @ Sts. James & Andrew Campus Federal/Church Streets, Greenfield

A team of volunteers will build a community labyrinth at the corner of Church and Federal Streets. Sign up to help by emailing or at Temple Israel.

Friday, May 31: Kirtan Shabbat Service @ CBI Northampton

There will be three Kirtan Shabbat services with Rabbi Andrew Hahn, sponsored by CBI. All the last Friday evening of the month from 6-7:30pm, with kiddish, food and maybe more singing afterwards. The kirtans will be held in the LGA auditorium. They will be free and open to all—no need to know Hebrew or be Jewish. Any help, though, with funding for the food would be so appreciated! Please contact Amy Meltzer, if you can volunteer, help, and/or have ideas for food funding.

Saturday June 22, 7 PM: Out! For Reel LGBTQ Comedy Show: The El-Salomons! @ Academy of Music Theatre, Northampton

Starring the funniest, smartest, Jewish-Palestinian, lesbian, feminist, married couple on Earth (hyperbole so noted), “The El-Salomons!” is a hilarious, must-see comedy show. Talented comedians Jess Salomon and Eman El-Husseini entertain with laugh out loud humor as they bash stereotypes, anti-semitism, islamophobia, homophobia, and sexism. Tickets: $20 Advance / $25 Door.
